Mike & Kari's Trip To:
Kansas City
|
Well, the trip started off nicely. We left on Sunday morning at about 6 AM. Although Kari claims she drove for 2 hours...I like to think that this is how she spent the majority of the time in the car. |

| This is the one of the views coming into Kansas City. Our hotel was located across the street from the largest building in the city. |

|
| This is the Hotel Philips. They were gracious enough to put us up for 4 days. |
|
| This is our room. They always had the place looking top notch. But as always, Kari would always have the bed destroyed in a matter of minutes after they made it..... |

| This is Union Station. It is very large and is comparable to the station in Washington D.C. |

| This is one of the three chandeliers that hung from the ceiling. Each of them weighed over 3 tons. |

| This is the interior in Union Station. There was a restaurant, but not much else. |

| This is a tower that was next to Union Station. We never did make it over to see exactly what it was....but that sucker was big too. |

| Before we went to the Dave Matthews concert on Monday, we decided to go to the Boulevard Brewing Company. They are the largest micro-brewery in the US. |

| This is the interior of the brewery. |

| This is the main section of the brewery. |

| They give free tours every Saturday and are always willing to give samples of their beer. Kari and I both agreed that the Wheat was our favorite. |

| These are a couple of people we found outside of the brewery. Strangely, they look a lot like us.... |

| This was a fountain the was in the plaza. It is one of the more popular shopping and dining parts of KC and is loaded with outdoor shops and sidewalk cafes. |

| On Tuesday, we went to Worlds of Fun. I told Kari that I can not go on rides that go in flat circles. By the 5th ride, she made me go on one that did just that....and that was the last one of the day. She settled for a stuffed frog. |

| She didn't mind me taking her picture in the elevator.... |
![]() |
| ....she soon decided it wasn't picture time anymore.... |
![]() |
| ..and she meant it! |
![]() |
| I got her to pose for a few more though. |

| There wasn't anyone around...so we decided to get creative...I forgot the flash was on. |

| This is an Art Institute of Contemporary Art. This is a large spider sculpture in the front lawn. |
![]() |
| This was my favorite. He was called "Crying Giant." Kari was about 3/4th as tall as the block he is sitting on. |
![]() |
| This was another sculpture they had in the main lobby. |
![]() |
| This was one of their wall decorations. |
![]() |
| This is a real Georgia O'Keeffe painting that was on display. |

| This is Royals Stadium. |
![]() |
| This is a view to give an idea of how large this stadium and sign are. |
![]() |
| This is the back of the stadium. |
![]() |
| A man on the grounds crew let us in to take pictures of the field. |
![]() |
| This is Arrowhead Stadium which is right next to the Royals Stadium. |
![]() |
| They were also very nice and let us in to take pictures. |
![]() |
| The stadium holds over 85,000 people. |
![]() |
| This is their Super Bowl trophy. I touched it. Kari got mad at me. |
![]() |
| Guess who drove home.....? |
