RENAISSANCE READING

RENAISSANCE MATH
   
Each students goal is to read, test, and pass:

  • 2 leveled chapter books each month

  • 2 leveled picture books each week

(Passing is 85% or better on any one quiz.)

 Each students goal is to master:
  •  four objectives a week

 

(Mastery is 85% of better on an objective test.)
   
Requirements before testing:
  • Read chapter book once thoroughly.

 

  • Read picture book three times thoroughly.

 

  • Complete a preparation sheet.
    • fictional chapter book
    • fictional picture book
    • non-fictional chapter book
    • non-fictional picture book

     

  • Fill out reading log with book information.

 

  • Teacher will approve and sign preparation sheet and reading log.

 

 

 

 Requirements before testing:
  • Complete an exercise on an objective.

 

  • Rework any problems missed on the exercise and discuss with the teacher.

 

  • Request another exercise for practice or a test if prepared.

 

  • Ensure the form number on the test matches the form number on the scantron.

 

  • Ensure bubbling starts on the correct problem number.

Testing:

  • Complete test.
  • Bubble answers on scantron.
  • Scan scantron.
   
Requirements after testing:
  • Show TOPS report and reading log to the teacher.

 

  • If the AR quiz is passed with an 85% or better:
    • Staple TOPS report to preparation sheet, turn it in, and collect star from teacher to place on record sheet.
    • Return book to library and check our another.
    • Read other book.

    (Once you have passed 2 picture books for the week, you must complete the chapter book before returning to the library again in the same week.)

 

  • I f the AR quiz is not passed with an 85% or better:
    • Complete an after testing activity.
      • fictional chapter book
      • fictional picture book
      • non-fictional chapter book
      • non-fictional picture book
    • Staple preparation sheet and any after testing activities to the back of the TOPS report and turn in to the teacher.
 Requirements after testing:
  • Show TOPS report to the teacher.

 

  • If the test is passed with an 85% or better:
    • Staple TOPS report to the test, turn it in, and collect star from teacher to place on record sheet.
    • Request another exercise from teacher on next objective.

     

  • If the test is not passed with an 85% or better:
    • Rework all problems missed, showing all work needed to solve each problem.
    • Conference with the teacher and explain your solutions.
    • Request another test on the same objective.
    • Show work to the teacher before scanning second test.
    • Teacher will approve and sign second test and scantron.
    • Scan scantron.
    • Show TOPS report to teacher.
   
ZPD levels will be raised after three 100% test scores at the current highest ZPD level.
