OAKWOOD MEN’S CLUB

 MEETING MINUTES:  May 14th, 2009

 

The meeting was held on Thursday, May 14th at 8:00pm at Oakwood Clubhouse. 

 

Head Pro report (Kevin Kramp): 

·         Pre-meeting event:  6:00 on June 11^th.

·         Pre-meeting event winners from May 14^th were Bob Romans and Jerry Motz.

·         Kevin will have many demo days this year.  Schedule to follow.

·         ESPN will be hosting a golf event.  Date is June 14^th.  The cost will be $60 per person plus greens fees.  More information will be available later.

·         Kevin and Tom will block off three or four tee times on Sunday mornings for little “mini” events.  If interested, please let Kevin or Tom know.

·         Kevin will send out e-mails on special sales in the clubhouse.

 

President’s report (Terry Winiarski): 

·         Updating of the club bylaws will be done soon.

·         Thanks to Gary D’Amato’s story in the Journal, we’ve been provided with good exposure for our County Men’s clubs. 

 

Membership Chair report (Jim Hautala):  Membership is currently at 110 including 2 more new members.

 

Treasurer report (Bob Czaplewski):  Report was read and accepted.

 

Handicap Chair report (Rick Zingsheim): 

·         Please remember to adjust your scorecards accordingly.

 

Rules Chair report (John Kugel):  No report

 

Event Chair report (John Winter): 

·         Please try to get your entries in earlier rather than last minute if possible.

·         Next event is the Ryder cup on June 13^th with a 7:30 start. 

·         Event applications may be pulled from the web site or from behind the starter’s desk.

 

First Team report (Bob Romans): 

·         A handicap of seven or less is needed to play on First Team.  Call Bob Romans if you are interested.

·         Results from May 3^rd’s team matches at Oakwood:  Whitnall is in first place with 210 points and Oakwood is in 4^th place with 146 points.  Low scores belonged to Mike Tubbin with 74 and John Wegner with 79. High point getters were Mike Tubbin with 23; Bob Czaplewski with 22 and Joe Jurkowski with 21.

·         Next event is scheduled for June 6^th at Dretzka.

 

Second Team report (Wayne Oberlander): 

·         A handicap of eight or more qualifies you to play on Second Team.  Call Wayne if you are interested in playing.

·         Second team results were not available at the meeting.

 

MCPLA report (Joe Jurkowski):

·         Each county course will have 25 applications for MCPLA tournaments or you may pull an application form the MCPLA website.

·         You now have two weeks to have automatic phone reservations for tee times. 

 

 

WPLA report (Joe Jurkowski/Roger Erdmann): 

·         WPLA is looking for volunteers for their tournaments. 

 

WSGA report (Terry Sot): No report

 

Advertising Chair report (Joe Jurkowski): 

·         The roster book was handed out at the May meeting. Remaining books will be mailed out.

·         $1000 has been received in revenue from our ads.  Please shop our advertisers.

 

Senior coordinator report (Roger Erdmann): 

·         Matches are well under way.  Please keep to the deadlines….No Exceptions!

 

Classic coordinator report (Joe Jurkowski): 

·         Matches are well under way.  Please keep to the deadlines….No Exceptions!

 

Cup coordinator report (Tim Nielson): 

·         Matches are well under way.  Please keep to the deadlines….No Exceptions!

 

Senior Cup coordinator report (Roger Erdmann):

Old Business:  Applications for the July and August events will be sent out to those who do not have e-mail. For everyone with e-mail, please print the applications from the web site.

 

New Business:  All applications and event information will be mailed out to everyone in Feb. of 2010.

 

The next meeting date is June 11th, 2009 at 8:00 pm at the Oakwood Clubhouse. There will be a pre-meeting event at 6:00.
