OAKWOOD MEN’S CLUB

 MEETING MINUTES:  March 12th, 2009

 

The meeting was held on Thursday, March 12th at 6:30pm at Oakwood Clubhouse.  The guest speaker was Earl Peters on USGA rules.  We’d like to thank Earl again for speaking at our opening meeting.

 

2008 Proposals Adapted to the by laws:

 

·        The Execute Board voted and approved to grandfather our four honorary members to say that membership application fees and all greens fees for non-self funded events will be paid for by the club.  All new honorary members as of the 2009 season will have a plaque in their name displayed at Oakwood.   The annual application fee will be waived.

·        It was moved, seconded and passed to approve a Super Senior event for those aged 65 and over.  This event will be self-supporting.

 

Head Pro report (Kevin Kramp): 

·         Kevin will be running a spring 4-man scramble tentatively on April 19th.  The scramble will now be called the Tom Gorzek Memorial Scramble.  The entry fee is to be announced.  The fee includes golf cart, lunch and prizes.

·         Play Golf America will be on May 30th at Oakwood from 10am to 4pm. 

·         Kevin will have many demo days this year.  Schedule to follow.

·         ESPN will be hosting a golf event.  Date is to be announced.  The cost will be $60 per person plus greens fees.  More information will be available later.

·         Kevin and Tom will block off three or four tee times on Sunday mornings for little “mini” events.  If interested, please let Kevin or Tom know.

·         Our Pro, Kevin Kramp, has received the President’s Award from the WPGA.

 

President’s report (Terry Winiarski): 

·         Active score entry beings April 1st and ends October 31st.

·         We will attempt to place ads for Oakwood membership in our community newspapers. 

·         The Oakwood Constitution and By-laws will be updated soon and shown on our website.

 

Membership Chair report (Jim Hautala):  Membership is currently at 94 including 2 new members.

 

Treasurer report (Bob Czaplewski):  Report was read and accepted.

 

Handicap Chair report (Rick Zingsheim): 

·         If you played out of state this winter, please post your scores by April 5, 2009.

 

Rules Chair report (John Kugel):  No report

 

Event Chair report (John Winter): 

·         Please try to get your entries in earlier rather than last minute if possible.

·         First event is the Two-man scramble on May 2nd. 

·         Event applications may be pulled from the web site or from behind the starter’s desk.

 

First Team report (Bob Romans): 

·         A handicap of seven or less is needed to play on First Team.  Call Bob Romans if you are interested.

·         First event is at Oakwood on May 3rd at 7am with a shotgun start.

 

Second Team report (Wayne Oberlander): 

·         A handicap of eight or more qualifies you to play on Second Team.  Call Wayne if you are interested in playing.

·         First event is at Greenfield on May 9th at 7am.  This is also a shotgun start.

 

MCPLA report (Joe Jurkowski):

·         Each county course will have 25 applications for MCPLA tournaments or you may pull an application form the MCPLA website.  We have a link to this website on our website.

 

WPLA report (Joe Jurkowski/Roger Erdmann): 

·         April 18th is the first meeting.

 

WSGA report (Terry Sot): No report

 

Advertising Chair report (Joe Jurkowski): 

·         The roster book will be handed out at the May meeting.

 

Senior coordinator report (Roger Erdmann):  No Report

 

Classic coordinator report (Joe Jurkowski): 

·         The classic has quite a few open spots.  Please send your application in early!

 

Cup coordinator report (Tim Nielson): 

·         The cup has quite a few open spots.  Please send your application in early!

 

Senior Cup coordinator report (Roger Erdmann): 

·         The senior cup has quite a few open spots.  Please send your application in early!
