My House

The house on a ridge
Towers forever in front
Behind is a hilly terrain,
Persons coming out,
Walking from their tower,
Flying away
Steering their tank,

Through the window:
Oak curios
Finished woods
Inlaid gold
Expensive china
Chairs for the king
Padded for the queen
Rounded mesa from the floor
Fit for the knights

Happy images, still frames of the soul,
Entrance to the mind,
Matriarchal pile of straw
Vertically reflective pool, covering the wall
Golden treasures suspended gloriously

Guardian searching
Ever watching, snarling
Muscles poised, launched, disappeared.
Surprise in the window, eye to eye,
Steel trap glaring, fogging the porthole,
The defenses heavily fortified
Bravely furiously watching

Field of evenly shorn stalks
Safety approaching
Peeling-paint door
Open-shut
Safety found in the house on a ridge.
