The day was bright. It was a nice and windy day. The river was very peaceful.  Sano already knew what Megumi was going to tell him. He already caught her running to the outhouse to throw up and her appetite had grown in just two months. He was very happy that Megumi was going to bear him a child.

They both sat at the edge of the river silently. No one made a move. Sano thought about their marriage. Two years now. Wow, they been married for two years and he was very happy to finally have someone to care for him and love. He also felt happy because his best friend had also gotten married and they had conceived a child already. Kenshin and Kaoru deserve to be happy. Why was Megumi was having so much trouble telling him. What if she thought that he wouldnt like it? But that was ridiculous and he was getting angry. He once told Megumi he loved her no matter what and to prove that he stopped drinking, gambling, and picking fights. He even got a job. He had manage to pay his debt of at the Akabeko and bought their own house for just the two of them and for the children they will have in the future.

After getting very annoyed he stood up. Megumis train of thought was shattered. They were both in the perfect place for her to tell him that she was pregnant but she had a nagging thought of negativity. "So, whenever youre ready," Sano spoke up, breaking the silence.

Megumi didnt say anything. She couldnt summon the strength to speak.
Then in a sudden outburst Sano screamed, "SO WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO TELL ME I GOT YOU PREGNANT?"

Megumis eyes widened. She stood up. He ruined her moment. She wanted to make this special and he ruined it. "STUPID,TORI-ATAMA!  Then she pushed him into the river and started to walk away.

"Megumi kitsune! Im sorry. Wait up." Sano quickly got out of the water, ran towards Megumi and hugged her. "Im sorry, but I was getting impatient."

"Still you ruined my moment and you got me -", her last words were cut off by the most gentle kiss that she forgot everything and was glad Sano was happy.

Sano woke up. He felt tired and numb. He tried to sit up but his chest hurt too much. The last thing he remembered was being crush under the weight of a lot of rocks. He felt bad for waking up. He liked the dream he was having but it really wasnt a dream not too long ago.

It was dark. He looked around. His eyes were adjusting to the dark. He looked more closely at the side of the futon where lay a sleeping bundle. He squinted his eyes to see who it was. When he realized who it was he felt a jab in his heart. Megumi was sleeping beside him. She looked very tired. Sano imagined how worried she must have been when they brought him in half alive. He relaxed a bit more closed his eyes and let sleep engulf him. He knew Megumi would protect him. He knew it as well as she.

Sano awoke the next morning feeling just a tad better although his chest was killing him. He couldnt sit up. Then an aroma hit him. It smelled like,

"MISO SOUP!" he exclaimed to himself.

Slowly he started to stand up. It was hard but once he got to his feet he proceeded to go get food. He cursed that he couldnt move faster, but he completely forgot about his pains when he started to hear his stomach grumble. He had been out for so many days that he needed food. Once he stepped out into the corridor the smell became stronger and he caught a whiff of some rice balls. He kept limping, his foot killing him every step he took. Man could food make him do anything. One of the things he loved about his fox was her cooking. It was delicious. He thought it was better than Kenshins. Well that was his opinion.

He almost reached the kitchen when he heard voices, which made him stop. He cursed under his breath. He complete forgot that he had to still be in bed and he couldnt stand long on his foot. It couldnt support his weight for long.

"So Megumi has Sanosuke awaken?" Sano heard. Apparently it was Kaoru.

"Iie, Sano hasnt awaken. Hes been out for almost a week now and his fever never returned after the second day. I believe his body is just resting and that is good because if he woke up the first thing he do is get up."

Sano winced at the comment Megumi made.
Che, she knows me too well.

"Well Megumi Ill be going. I think if I stay longer Kenji might just finish driving Kenshin and Yahiko nuts. Hes always so hyper."

"I wonder how ours will be, said Megumi rubbing her belly where her and Sanos child lay growing.

"Lets just hope it doesnt have all of his charming traits," said Kaoru.

"Well well just wait and see," chuckled Megumi.

"Ja ne."

"Ja ne."

Sano was so absorbed with his wifes conversation he didnt feel someone walk behind him. A hand slowly touched his shoulder. "I believe you shouldnt be out of bed."

Ah!" Sano exclaimed as he jumped forward and landed on his foot and fell down. "Itai! he exclaimed. He rubbed his foot and looked behind him.

"Dr. Genzai, dont that."

"What did I do? You should be worried about her," he said as he looked straight ahead and saw Megumi standing with a serious face which meant that hell has been let loose. Sano unwillingly turned around to make eye contact with his wife. He cursed the minute he smelled the food.

Kaoru reached the dojo fearing what may she find. Kenji was a very active child and if he was out of your sight for a second expect the worse. She step inside the dojo and to her surprise it was very quiet. She slowly proceeded to the backyard were usually Kenshin did laundry while Kenji played ball with Yahiko. No one was back here so she decided to go inside the house. She started to take off her shoes when she heard something. She walked very slowly and as she got closer to her room she recognized the voice. It was Kenshin.

Kenji please sit still I have to fix these before mommy gets home or else-"

Kenshin didn't finish the sentence afraid of what may really happen if Kaoru found out what happened to her kimonos. Kenshin was doing laundry when he lost sight of his son. When he realized he had snuck off again Kenshin looked for him. When he didnt find him outside he went inside. He looked in every room until he came to his room. He slowly slid the shoji door open and inside he found Kenji tangled up in many kimonos.

Kenshin quickly untangled his son and started to fix the damage. Six kimonos were ruined. Kenshin barely finish sewing up two when Kaoru peaked inside and saw the whole mess. She froze. Her best kimonos; the yellow one with sakura blossoms, the white one with red lining, the midnight blue one with silver sparkles; she couldnt look anymore. She breathed deeply and counted to ten. She tried everything not to explode but she just snapped. She went inside. The hairs on Kenshins neck stood up and he slowly turned around. What he saw made the legendary battousai freeze and the only word he could utter was, "Oro."

"Ohayo," was all Sano could say.

"Ohayo," replied Megimi in a very tranquil voice. That made Sanos blood freeze.

"If youll excuse me Ill be going to the dojo if you need me" said Dr.Genzai and left.

Damn old man he had to do this to me. If I didnt die before, now Ill surely die.

"So Sanosuke." Oh man. She said my full name. "Why arent you in bed?" she asked with no feeling.

"I smelled food," replied Sano very shyly.

"YOU BAKA, WHAT ARE YOU THINKING? I BET NOTHING YOU TORI ATAMA YOURE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE UP YET. WHAT ARE YOU THINKING? DONT YOU WANT HEAL COMPLETELY? REMEMBER HOW LONG IT TOOK FOR THAT HAND OF YOURS TO HEAL, SANOSUKE SAGARA? IF YOU WANT TO SEE TOMORROW I SUGGEST YOU GO BACK TO BED!!!!!!!

Sano didnt have to be told twice. Even though his foot was killing him he managed to get up and run back to his room. Once in his room Sano felt all his aches come back.

"Che," he uttered

"What was that?" came a voice from the outside of his door.

"Nothing," he quickly lied and hid under the covers. He then heard the footsteps fade away.
That went well, he thought. Then his stomach rumbled again.

*****************************************

"Oro? Is oro ALL YOU CAN SAY? LOOK AT MY KIMONOS, KENSHIN. WHAT WERE YOU DOING THAT YOU DIDNT PREVENT THIS?"

"Sessha is very-" Kenshin never finished because he was knocked out cold by a right punch to the face.

"Kenji come with mommy we need to have a little talk" Kaoru said to her son very gently. The child nodded and walked over his father and started skipping around following his mother glad he didnt get screamed at.
