| FAVOURITE SHOOTING LOCATIONS Sky Dome, Toronto, Canada When the floods are on, there is a good distribution of light on the dome pitch. This allows for great interviews with ball players on different areas of the pitch. Arusha International Convention Centre Arusha, Tanzania Good scenic backdrop available in centre quadrangle. Lamu Airstrip approach, Lamu Kenya Great establishing shots available as aircraft flies directly over the town on final approach. MOST INTERESTING SITUATION ENCOUNTERED AS A PRODUCER: Presenter says she can't travel on a long distance bus |

----- My participation as a team member of the Kenya Snow Sculpting Team to the 2003 Quebec Winter Carnival, has generated a lot of interest from people all over the world. Being part of the first Kenyan team to undertake an international snow sculpting competition, has put me in a continous spotlight, in both the international and local media. I am glad to have been part of this historical team and look forward to representing my country in future snow and ice sculpting events. For more info about the event please refer to: British Broadcasting Corporation website The team participated at this year's Designs In Ice Festival in Toronto, Canada and more recently at the Helsinki Zoo International Ice Sculpture Competition in Finland. Toronto was our first time carving in an ice competition. It was a learning experience. Helsinki was great...and we really learned a lot from all the teams that participated. The comraderie was amazing and we had great fun learning more about the thrills of ice. We also did a bit of sculpting at the Canadian stand during the Francophone Week, held in Kenya, earlier this year. Check out the following sites: Designs In Ice Helsinki Zoo International Ice Sculpture Competition Government of Canada Website Bio: Working in North American and Africa, has provided me with the opportunity of participating as a team member in film, television and radio crews from around the globe (including crews from USA, Canada, Germany, Britain and South Africa). I have working experience in both, broadcast and cable TV facilities. I have worked on a variety of program formats, including, sports telecasts, game/quiz shows, award presentations, beauty paegents, etc. Working in various crew capacities, i.e cameraperson, floor manager, clapper (film) and production assistant has given me an understanding of various aspects of the global film and TV industry. Roles in "Above the Line" and "Below the Line" positions, have broadened my perspectives. My work ethics have been frequently commended by supervisors. One of my treasured experiences, was as a participant in cultural programming in North America. My role as a host and segment producer on "Diverse City", Canada's prime multicultural show, provided me with an opportunity to understand the programming needs of various cultures around the world. I believe that film and television are important tools in our present day society. There is a need to nurture and develop their growth, to ensure a positive and promising future in the advancement of human communication. Although I now work more in the field of radio, television still holds a great passion. |
