James/Finlay Classrooms Selected as "Model Classrooms"

We are pleased to inform you that Miss Finlay’s and Miss James’ classrooms have been selected by Southwest Human Development (SWHD) to be “Model Classrooms” for Assistive Technology (AT). We are honored to be one of only 5 classrooms in the Metropolitan Phoenix area selected to participate in this project.

As a “model classroom”, we will receive FREE training and consultation from Southwest Human Development's Assistive Technology Specialists. Southwest Human Development is a not-for-profit agency which received a Federal grant to provide training in Assistive Technology to Arizona school districts. The AT specialists at SWHD are known throughout the state and nationally for their expertise in the field.

Our lead trainer is Janice Pilling. Janice is a Speech Language Pathologist. As an Assistive Technology Specialist, Janice brings extensive knowledge and experience in the areas of Augmentative Communication and technology.

Janice began working with our staff in November. She will be in our classroom approximately one day each week of this school year, working with staff and students.

As part of this project, we will be videotaping the process of becoming a model classroom. When you stop by the Meadows campus, you will notice we've already made some exciting changes in the classrooms!

Now We're Cooking!

Thanks to everyone who contributed recipes, donated supplies, and/or ordered our Meadows Family Cookbook. Our cookbook will have over 150 delicious recipes provided by Meadows staff, students, and families.

New 6th Grade Friends

Meadows AEP 6th Graders have been visiting our classrooms and getting to know our students. We've enjoyed getting to know them, too.
