Family Trip To Fribourg, Switzerland 21-23 September 2000
We took a trip to the Le Moleson peak. This is my "husband" and 2 of my "daughters." We're riding in a funicular. We had to take a cable car after that. It's a high peak!! When we got to the top, we could see for miles. We could even pick out La Berneuse....that's our mountain!

We took a side trip to Morat. There is a wall around either all or part of the city (I can't remember!!). We climbed up these narrow wooden stairs to get to the top of the wall. It was worth it!! What a view of the village.
At school we are divided into families. Each family has a Mom and Dad (There are a few 3 parent families, too.) This is supposed to be a setting for us to get to know a few kids really well. We meet each week and celebrate birthdays, etc. Early in the school year we had "Family Trip Weekend." This was a chance for family members to get to know each other. My family went to Fribourg. We took some side trips, too.
On the first day of our trip we went to Lausanne. It was sort of on the way to Fribourg. In Lausanne we visited the Olympic Museum. I loved seeing all the exhibits with pictures from Olympics gone by. We also visited while the Olympics were going on. All the televisions were showing events that were taking place. It was cool to be in the Olympic Museum while the Summer Olympics were happening!!

I can't talk about our trip and not put in a couple of pictures from Fribourg since that was actually the main destination for the family. Bill and I spent a lot of time walking around. This was my first chance to really be out of Leysin. I enjoyed seeing all the fountains. They are so old!! The dates are on the sides, and it's hard to believe they've been there such a long time. One of our stops in the city was the Notre Dame Cathedrale. The outside of it was amazing.

Finally, even though I don't have pictures, I have to mention 2 other things. They are too "Swiss" to leave out, and they are both food related. Part of our trip included a guided tour of a chocolate factory....oh yes! Swiss chocolate. It was the Nestle Cailler factory. At the end of the tour we could try all the chocolate made there. Every flavor was there. I think we all ate so much cholocate it made us sick, but it was soooooo good! The other place was the cheese factory in Gruyere. Gruyere cheese is the usual hard cheese in Switzerland. It has a sharp taste to it. We learned how the cheese it made from a talking cow. The whole thing was rather humorous. We did get to eat cheese, but that wasn't as exciting as the chocolate!
