New Policy for Softball Rosters
Because of the large number of people that have been showing up to play
in the Monday night softball games, it has become necessary to put into place some
policy that will prevent any players who go play week-in and week-out from being
forced to relinquish playing time and at-bats to others who do not usually play.
Likewise, we hope to minimize the impact that players showing up late have on the
game without denying these people the oppertunity to play.
- We ask that players please refrain from inviting additional guests to play, unless
you discuss it with Dan or Matt previously.
- All players should call or Instant Message Matt or Dan BEFORE Sunday night so
that we know how many players will be showing up for Monday's games. At this point,
if appropriate, we will call those people who wanted to invite guests and new players.
- To those people who have a previous commitment and cannot arrive at 7:00, please
let Dan or Matt know this on Sunday. Your best bet will be to wait until 8:00 or
so and show up for the start of the second game. If you let one of us know beforehand
that you will be doing this, we can guarantee you a spot in the second game, no
matter how many additional players play in the first game. Please do not show up
at 7:30 or 7:45 and expect to play the last few innings of the first game. This
seriously affects the game, team selection, and punctuality of the games.
- For those who have unforseen problems (traffic, etc.) and expect to arrive a few
minutes late (i.e. 15), please call Matt or Dan around 6:45-7:00. We will put you
on a team. However if you show up later than the third inning, you will not be able
to play.
- If you don't call and show up after teams are selected, you will not be able to
play. I realize that this seems harsh, but re-drafting is time-consuming and simply
adding a player to a team is unfair.
- Finally, please DO NOT say that you are showing up (to reserve yourself a spot)
and then fail to show. This is insulting to everyone who is playing and unfair
to those who wanted to play but could not.
