July
26, 2004 West Herr Picnic Yesterday, I got my bonus, and have already
spent more than half of it. ;) I hardly got anytime this past
weekend that wasn't busy, had a family party saturday too. Today
work, and Wednesday through Friday work too, but Tuesday I am taking
off to go to the zoo. I hope this week is a fun one. Alright,
well back to work.
July 23, 2004 I have been in alot of police cars lately... If many people were
in those cars I would be worried. I on the other hand was driving
them. Yeah thats right, and quite a lot of them too. I have
driven four of them to and from the Alden correctional facility, and
tons of them to and from other places including Schmidt's Garage and
the Chestnut Ridge Police Bunker. I have been driving all of
these police cars because the guy I work with, Mike, sells commercial
vehicles and I often deliver them with him, it is a nice break from the
typical computer work I do as well as a good way to drive fast and talk
on my cell phone ;) . Anyway, I drudging through Darwin's book
which is a tough read if you don't have a place to concentrate, but it
is very good. I just began to read Marx today, and I am slowly
working on Code when I need a change of scenery.
July 21, 2004 So I finnished i, Robot in one day on Monday, and 451 in one day
on Tuesday, but since there is no fricken way I am going to finnish or
even come close to finnishing Darwin today, I read the other half of
the book by the notorious hacker, Kevin Mitnick, Art of
Deception. 451 was a good book, somewhat
Orwellian, only with less nightmares. i, Robot, for those of you
who do not know is a series of nine short stories which the movie is
based on the principles of. The stories are good, and are
somewhat like a science mystery which you just can't wait to figure
out. Animal Farm was also good, though 1984 is perhaps my
favorite novel and Orwell's best book. If you would like to learn
a bit about any of the books, 451, 1984, Brave New World, or whatever,
read Animal Farm, while it is not the best of the bunch, it is the
shortest and probably the easiest to read and understand. I
recomend reading over seeing the movie of any of these books, because
there are lots of things you just can't get from a movie. So I'm
halfway through this week, work isn't so bad. Had a long chat
with my family about going to Orlando last night. It is going to
be an adventure, and it is growing nearer. Oh well, continuing
the week it will be great.
July 19, 2004 The work week has begun once again. It was another night
at the Italian Festival last night. Animal Farm polished off in
one day, Sunday. I have begun reading i, Robot; for my actual
love of future based novels (see list above) and my love of
robots. I have been meaning to read Isaac Asimov for some time
now, and it seems pop culture has picked which one of his books I am
reading. Then its onto Bradbury and Darwin. I've added a few
books that I have already read parts of to the list, I would like to
finnish them as well. It will be a busy week, so I am not sure
how quickly I can finnish these books, but I will try my best.
July 18, 2004 Finnished Brave New World Yesterday and started Animal
farm. Went to the Italian Festival and Pizza Plant for my two
ethnic meals today. I have a new goal of educating myself as much
as I can, reading while not all that exciting is a great way of
learning alot. I bought a nice churchill today at Virgil, it will
be a good one, its my favorite brand. (If you know what any of
that sentence meant, you're pretty good). Alright well thats all.
July 16, 2004 The
quote of all eternity was in today's Buffalo News:
""Journalist Barbara Ehrenreich, author of "Nickel and Dimed: On (Not)
Getting By in America," will speak Oct. 27.
UB is requesting all incoming freshmen to read her book, an account of
her time spent trying to make a living in a string of minimum-wage
jobs.
When the University of North Carolina assigned the book to its freshmen
last year, conservative students and some state lawmakers criticized
the choice because of what they considered to be Ehrenreich's liberal
bias. The book also will be The Buffalo News Book of the Month in
October."" LOL that is all I can
say. Liberal Bias = (Insert Name/City Here) News. Thank you
for finally admitting in Buffalo News, at least you guys are honest,
unlike the news fabricators at the USA Today. Thats pretty much
it, finnished reading 1984,
began reading Brave New World.
Also on my short list is Animal Farm.
I have also begun studying for the LSAT. Perhaps I do not plan to
go to law school, or perhaps I do, nonetheless it can't hurt to expand
your mind.
July 12, 2004 Another good weekend. Taste of Buffalo on Sunday was
packed. Thats always a good thing to see. I began to read
George Orwell's 1984 this
weekend. While I have read the book before, a refresher of it
makes me continue to think that it is by far the best book ever
written. I was thinking that perhaps standardized tests could be
based on ones interpretation of the book as a way to indicate
intelligence and character. Another busy week of work lies ahead
of me. It isn't so bad to work when there is alot to do, I may
get everything done in the first half, and the last half may be
dragging on. This picture was in the paper the other day:
Its kind of funny how when two liberal men hug in this manner its
ok. If George W. Bush was hugging Dick Cheney in this manner
(which he never would because they don't hug in Texas) gay remarks
would be made, but because the two big supporters of gay rights were
hugging this way no one would ever expect that gay supporters would be
gay. Usually in actuality gay opponents are gay themselves, which
makes no sense, because this picture of the Democratic presidential
candidates lovingly embracing got no wise remarks from the News.
Here are my wise remarks, Edwards and Kerry are gay lovers. Is
this true? Probably not, but if it was two Republicans hugging for some
unknown reason that remark would have already been made and I would not
have had to have made it. Oh well. All I can say is:
In all actuality, I like other good patriots will be voting for:
(Unless of coarse Jimmy Griffin Does run for president)
July 6, 2004 Today I would like to wish a very Happy Birthday to George W.
Bush, 58, and Nancy Reagan, 83. So I did end up going to
Riverside to see fireworks for the fourth time, with Sarah, Joelle,
Nikki and Kira and their friend Paula. It was another good night
of fireworks to end the best Fourth of July weekend ever. Four nights
of fireworks for the Fourth it seems. Now back to work for the
week.
July 5, 2004 Three great fireworks
shows this weekend, one remaining. Friday night it was Riverside
Park for a carnival and fireworks. Saturday, perhaps the best
fireworks show I've ever seen it was the Bisons game (which they
won). The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra played after the game to
some stunts, including skydivers, and finally when it got dark, to the
fireworks, an amazing show. Last night I went to dinner with
Sarah and Jay to Transit Valley Country Club, and went to fireworks
afterwards, I was suprized the show went on it all, the weather was so
horrible. Ran into Amanda Geary, and Meg Uplinger there, and yes
that ring is really really gawdy. So now what to do for
tonight? Not sure. I've got a handful of places to chose
from, and a handful of things to do. I will probably just end up
going back to Riverside to complete the Fourth of July weekend. I
still have a ton of sparlers and a bottlerocket to light, while the
first degree burn on my hand is scaring me away a bit, it takes alot to
scare me away from fire. Have a great Fourth of July weekend.
July 2, 2004 It
is Friday morning, TGIF. I am here at work, trying to get some
stuff done. Yesterday, July 1st, was Canada Day, but it was also
the day in 2000 in which the Confederate Flag was taken off of the
South Carolina Statehouse. What a horrible day. There were
also other other things that happened on that day that were bad.
In 1997 Hong Kong was transfered back to Chinese rule, and in 2000
Vermont began a policy we are all familiar with, Civil Unions. Today,
July 2nd was also a horrible day, in 1937 Amelia Earhart disappeared in
the Pacific Ocean, and in 1566 Nostradamus died. I wish something
happy would happen one of these days. Right here I will raise the
Confederate flag since it seemingly isn't welcome anywhere else.
Ok, well now that that rant is over I can continue. For all those
who care, Bo is coming most likely the last week of July or the first
week of August. It will be good to see him again. I have
been asked why I don't keep a Blog or whatever. The reason is is
because this website gives me better flexibility, I can insert pictures
(see above) and I can do what I want. No you can't comment on this
stuff, but thats because I have not inserted a comment box, I
could. If you would like to comment IM me mjt13xx, or email me
[email protected]. That way I will be able to find out who wants
to actually fess up to telling me that it was a good thing the
Confederate Flag was taken down. I will never see it that way,
but its a good thing email is free then right? I am glad to see
Iraq back in the hands of the Iraqi people. I am glad to see they
are going to hang Saddam's ass. Oh well enough ranting. I
have alot of work to do. 10-4 Over and Out.
June 30, 2004 It
is a Wednesday morning, which means I am at work as per typical.
I did, however, take the day off yesterday to go to the zoo.
While a few areas were torn up to build new exibits, it was quite
fun. The remodeling of the zoo is a twelve year project, and we
are two years into it, so there were a few brand new exibits. I
did get to see an elephant paint like I told Nikki and Sarah I
would. As I sit here I think... hmmm.... perhaps there should be
two one day weekends instead of one two day one. I think it would
make more people happy, and break up the week better. The day is
going by at snail speed. I watched Schindler's List last night,
it was good, but I will have to say Jurassic Park was still the best
film of 1993.
June 25, 2004
Well it has once again been a long time since I have written
anything. For one Birdstone (the horse I bet on, see below)
won. I am very upset about that, I really wanted Smarty Jones to
win. Its Friday, and while that usually means I am going to the
races, I am not. I'm not super sad or anything, and I will probably go
tomorrow. What do I do?
I work five days a week, only about 30 hours because office work is
rediculously boring.
The other day I sent in my application for my absentee ballot. I
sure will miss Buffalo, but I will not miss voting for George W. Bush,
because I would vote no matter where I was. I have voted every
year I could, and I am not going to stop now or ever. If right
about now you are saying to yourself "He's a conservative?!?" You may
have never met me. I am a registered Republican (even my parents
are Independents) and let me tell you, I felt like a communist when I
registered Republican, there is not a political party which is as far
right as I am. At least there isn't one that isn't on a quest for
global domination or has its own militia. I do not own a gun,
however, I think the 2nd Amendment is THE most important one (don't get
me started, and YES over the 1st Amendment because you cannot exercise
the first for very long without the second). My idea of global
domination would be feeling safe one an airplane, on a bus, boat,
train, or anywhere else without the constant need to fear terrorists.
[WARNING: CONSERVATIVE CONTENT AHEAD] Yes I believe that Ronald
Reagan should be on Mount Rushmore, and on the Twenty (who likes
Jackson anyway?) He was THE greatest president (yes over Washington and
Lincoln, who are sort of mystical characters anyway). He won
reelection with 49 states. Yeah, which means even you tree
hugging, squirrel *&%^ing, communists' parents voted for him (or
didn't vote at all which is another thing I hate.) If you are
reading this and are still like "What is Mike's biggest hatred?"
It has to be Phil Revekant. No no, I'm just kidding, actually me
and Phil had a great conversation yesterday. I wish he was coming
back to Buffalo. My biggest hatred is foreign cars. Yes
that is correct. Why? Well for starters I am a huge
conservative, I do not agree with unions whatsoever (I was in one once,
and they were a bunch of........., obviously I hated them before that
though) It is liberals who love unions, but yet it is liberals
who buy foreign cars. What kind of bizaro world are we living
in? Duh, you like unions, but won't buy union made cars?
Once again proving my idea of the liberal mind to be correct. I
buy AMERICAN cars because I am American. While it is imposible to
buy everything American nowadays (if it weren't I would try to),
it is a good idea to support the US economy, not the economies of
contries who tried to wipe us off the map. Lets take the
Mitsubishi Zero for example, What you'ver never heard of that car? I'll
tell you why, because it was a fighter plane, it was the plane (lots of
them) that attacked Pearl Harbor. Yes when you buy your God Damn
Gallant, you are supporting the country and the Company that attacked
our own soil (PS Mitsu's symbol is a propellor). Then there is
the other half, the spinning
props, who are they, well that is the auto industry nickname for
BMW. So when you buy one of those pieces of shit let me just
remind you their symbol is a spinning propellor, and not as a fashion
statement, but rather because they made Nazi warplanes, thanks for
supporting the enemy once again. Then there is Volkswagen (the
people's car) who Hitler himself instructed the construction of the
Beetle (yeah J Mays designed the new one ;) ) and they didn't
just make crappy little cars, they made Tanks too. Thanks for you
support of the enemies of the United States, those countries and
companies who killied MILLIONS of Americans and our allies. Japan
was not our ally, and they are only are hald ass one now because we
kicked their ass and then turned around and bought their cheap little
electronics. And the Germans, they killed so many innocent people
and you turn around and say "Wow that new Z5 is the coolest thing on
earth" Well you know what I hope that money is going into paying
off the bonds that built the concentration camps. Not to mention
the fact that none of that money ever returns to the US because they
arent idiots and they buy their own domestic products. Sorry to
go on a rant, its just getting close to election time, and it scares me
to think someone could possibly think that supporting a man who changes
his mind more than his underwear, someone who was in war but denounced
it, someone who said Find those weapons of mass destruction (which
exist) and then said Of course there were no WMDs why did we go in
there. Ok, well that was a rant, but it was about an important
topic to me. Even if you are a tree hugger, support the Unions
you pretend to support, Buy American. So now that I have given
you a summary of my background, you are probaly saying to yourself "Why
would I even wonder?" I don't know the answer to that.
Nonetheless, I just thought I would write. I have been golfing a
few times this week, and I would like to continue that. I kept
even with Rich, Jay and Rob for several holes and considering I have
not been golfing in a long time I thought that was real good. I
also went golfing at the par 3 with Sarah, and then ran into Jay
completely on accident at our favorite place, Pizza Plant. It is
THE best place to eat and hang out. On Tuesday, I am going to the
Zoo it will be real fun, I have not been there in a couple of
years. As for this weekend, it is Andrew and Ashley's graduation
party, congradulations. Jay you better bring it in the volleyball
game lol. Well thats all, have a great weekend, call me if you
would like to do something.

I cannot wait for Tonight/Tomorrow. It is going to be a very
racing weekend. Tonight starts off with some Drag Racing at Lancaster
speedway at 6:00PM. My Uncle (well Great Uncle technically) Vinnie
Arcadi is racing in a Nitrous car at 7 there, the race will be over in
a matter of seconds (the damn car goes 0-100 MPH in one second) Then
his second race, and then rush down to Hamburg for Buffalo Raceway, 12
races starting at 7:20, my favorite horse is racing tonight, Little
Peaches and she's gonna win. Then tomorrow I'm not sure if I'm going to
Fort Erie Raceway to watch the live Thoroughbreds in the afternoon and
the Belmont Stakes in the evening, or Buffalo Raceway to watch the
Belmont Stakes and then the live Standardbreds at 7. While Smarty
Jones is going to win the Triple Crown, I am betting on Birdstone to
Show (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) because his trainer John Zito is amazing and
knows Smarty Jones is going to win, I like his honesty. I guess
my new sport is racing, and its awesome.

* Have not updated this site in a long time, so I decided to. It
is almost 11 AM, it is a Tuesday, so I am at work for West Herr Automotive Group.
I do computer work here. I am the "Assistant Systems Specialist"
which pretty much much means I do all the work no one else wants to do. *
As a past time (and a paying one [looking for clients if you know any]
I do computer work, simple websites and database work. I have a few
recent projects, if you want to know more visit my site here) Yes I am still working on Boomawang, but it is going a
little more slowly than I would have liked. *
Other new hobbies I have include gambling.... yeah thats right. I love
horse racing, harness racing to be more precise. I try to go down
to Buffalo Raceway once a
week (Fridays at 7:35 PM Post Time, they are the best races). You
would think I'm an idiot or an addict, but just like my first hobby,
this one is also a paying one. At the worst case scenario I get a
few hours of entertainment for the loss of a few bucks. WAY cheaper
than a movie. I usually come out ahead though. *
I have been walking alot. I try to go for a walk a few times a
week. I usually go to Delaware Park, I try and rotate between the
path around the golf course and the one by the art gallery. I am
going to start rollerblading a bit too. * YES I AM GOING TO DISNEYWORLD!!!
My Fall 2004 semester at the University at Buffalo will be spent in
Orlando, Florida. Me and Sarah have interships in
Disneyworld. We will be living working and going to school in
Central Florida, all on the Walt Disney World Resort. It will be
quite an interesting time. I will be gone from August 18th
through January 3rd, 2005. *
I am finally doing well in school, I got over a 3 both semesters this
year. I am majoring in history, which is something I like.
I enjoy writing papers much more than taking tests which is why history
is perfect for me. I would like to go to law school after
undergrad, but I am not sure what I will do, a masters of some sort. *
I would like to be a real estate developer. I would like to play
a part in getting Buffalo out of these slums and making it the great
place I know it is. *
Yes, Sarah and I are still going out. It will be two years this
summer, and we are quite happy.
* Besides Sarah as my obvious best friend, I have been going to the
races with Mark. I think he enjoys them, though I am convinced he
is bad luck ;) . I have also been hanging out with my old friend
Jay Mewar. Its funny because after not talking to him for a good
part of high school all of our conversations seem to be picked right up
from where we left them circa 1998. He's a great guy, I wish he
didn't golf so much or we could actually make schedules. (golfing is
much too long for my attention span) And where there is Jay, there is
Rob, and Rich, who are also great friends who I was seeing to little of.
