I waited for weeks for Jarhead to come out; I would be nice to see a movie different from the shit Hollywood has been passing off as movies lately. Although I wasn�t a strong supporter of what jarhead stood for I can tell you this, the acting, and screen write was top notch. For those of you hopping to see a good action army flick jarhead is not your pick, think the Breakfast Club in the desert because that is what jarhead is!
Personally I was getting tired of all the anti war crap that iv been hearing, and Jarhead was just another anti war piece of propaganda being shoveled out to give something else about Americans to bitch about. Iv heard the author didn�t intend to make the movie anti war, and that�s fine I believe him, its Hollywood who is the one that twist and manipulates the words of others to try and bring you a better flick. Here are some quick examples of stuff I heard, If you disagree with me your probably wrong. �Sergeant, my anti chemical suit doesn�t work.� �Who do you think gave those weapons to Sadam, we did.� � The army wants me to take these pills and singe this waver so I don�t sue in case my asshole falls out!�
So a quick synopsis of the flick, it starts off like the majority of these war movies, in boot camp with a drill sergeant making the newest recruits life hell. Then it goes on to trying to make it into the sergeants sniper squad the most elite marine position. ( at this point im still very awake and intrigued.)
The soliders are then sent to dessert storm, were they do nothing! And after doing nothing, they do a little more nothing, this is the part the movie reminds me of the Breakfast club out in the desert, were they find ways to entertain themselves talking about masturbation screwing, and then more masturbation. Though some of the parts have some humor to them for the most part the movie is uneventful.
Towards the end of the movie they send the snipers out to do a mission were they are to kill some officers inside a tower, this is the part of the movie that Iv been waiting for to see some action. Well I am greatly disappointed when once again nothing happens.
Like I stated above the the acting is very good in the movie, and they do have some great dialog scripts, but it just fails to deliver a strong punch!
