| Things I remember from De La Salle:
I remember drinking beer outside the Linden hotel with Beardsell and Toweel - John Nourse bought the round as he was a regular! Everybody else was at youth club... I remember spelling Vingt (twenty) incorrectly 9 times (20 -29) and ending my french career with Mrs Martin over a number spelling test - (1 to 30). I remember carrying those desks down to the exam hall!! I remember sitting around the old bicycle shed checking out the bikes... I remember playing soccer with sir Stanley Matthews in new addidas boots! I remember watching Kiffer Mercedes singing his lungs out on stage at the Pirates of Penzance. I remember the O'Sullivans pick nick err lunch packets. I remember Bruce Edwards putting touch powder in Kev's chalk and the subsequent explosion! I remember panburgers after selling programmes at the boxing for the Toweels. I remember smoking "senior service cigarettes" and dropping the packet in front of Crow Thomas. I remember every afrikaans essay ending up as a holiday at the coast. I remember Tiger telling O' Sullivan that he was not a scientist! I remember peach and chalk fights "ahhh fresh chalk Kev would conclude!" I remember star schools and 2 x c's + 2 x d's + 2 x e's as my Matric results! I remember the chess team - two O'Sullivans, two Edwards, two Kirstens, two Bellingans every Tuesday at the YMCA!! I remember the black leather strap and the assortment of canes that Kev had. I remember marbles, ding bats and yo yo's (coke, fanta and sprite) -----I remember great times! |
