Phantom Movie News Board!
My Opinions in short
Should there be a POTO movie: Yes
Should John Travolta be lead : No
Yes, I think there SHOULD be a Phantom movie. The Phantom of the Opera is one of the greatest musicals ever. (Definelty the greatest of the 80's and 90's anyway...) Few people however, in the grand scope of all 6 billion people on earth, ever get or will get a chance to see"The Phantom of the Opera." Phantom plays in a limited numbers of cities worldwide mostly in the U.S.A and Europe. Tickets to see it are also very expensive! When people do have a chance to see a musical there are so many to choose one taht it is not likely they will see the phantom. For those of us blessed with the honor of seeing the phnatom, we know how good it is and what a great story it offers. The world should be able to know and love the story and teh music as well as we all do. Now unless NBC decides to make a phantom sitcom(I hope not) the only mass media that can present this great story to the world is a motion picture. Now folks, Andrew Lloyd Webber is no fool, and neither are the people at the Reallu Useful Company or at Warner Bros. for that matter. This is no way that any of these people or companies would let the phantom be ruined by puttiong it in a movie. The POTO movie would become the first great musical on movie since "The Sound Of Music" and the short span of musical movies that followed back in the 60's.
Now while I believe a POTO movie is what the world needs... The world definelty does not need John Travolta playing the role of the Phantom. I don't know for sure who's idea that was and who still supports it, but that idea is teh stupidest idea since puttng Euro disney in Paris! John Travolta is an excellent actor... I give him that... but he can't sing! The range of the part of the Phantom is huge, absoulutley enormous... very few singers can take on that part... ever peroson who ever played the Phantom admitts to that. John Travolta dosen't even have a very pleasant voice (just watch grease a few times) and unless his voice is going to be dubbed in the POTO movie... then what business does he have with the part. It would be nice to see Crawford take the part agian, and Webber is considering it, but realisticly I don''t think ts gonna happen. what do you think. E-mail me at [email protected] under the subject POTO movie. Thank You.
