The Edge of the Valley
Wednesday 12 November 2003
Rain turns to snow as I begin writing this evening... the big, fluffy kind that usually bring a big smile to my face.
I'm getting a feeling inside that I oughtn't have written my last two entries nor this one, but I'm too far into the story to quit here... stubborn, I guess.
When Plutarch wrote his history Lives nearly two millennia ago, his style was to write two chapters of biographies of historical figures, then take a third to compare and contrast the lives of the two about which he'd written. My "lives" with Yvonne and Kari now written, in the spirit of Plutarch I'd like to finally draw comparisons, with the hope that I myself can learn something as I go.

| Meeting |
Yvonne and I met online in a chatroom in late 1997. She was in the process of moving out of her home, and early in '98 was divorced. A month after getting her own place, she began dating another man she met online who lived only fifty miles away. Yvonne and I met face-to-face for the first time a year-and-a-half later, at the urgence of her boyfriend... to get me out of her system once and for all. |
Kari and I met working at APAC. She was working full-time there as I picked up part-time night hours while teaching. She was married at the time we met, but was also unhappy in her relationship. |
| Appearance |
Yvonne was 5'4" tall, 140 pounds, with brown hair and deep brown eyes. She was 9 months younger than I was. |
Kari was a 5'1" tall, 120 pound blonde. The color of her eyes would change from green to blue, depending on her emotion. She was 13 years my junior. |
