Wisconsin Skies

  • The Basics
  • Wisconsin Skies

Welcome to my astronomy page. This is something I've wanted to write for a long time.

When my daughter was little, I'd hold her in my arms outside before bedtime to point out constellations and planets. I told her to never marry a man who didn't know the stars. Those lessons carried through, as with the few girlfriends I'd had since, late at night she had asked each of them them, "Do you know the stars?" It's good for a girl to keep her standards.

Wisconsin Skies is just that... a look at the night sky in Wisconsin. There are many riches in the sky in the southern hemisphere, and pre-dawn skies are just as pretty... but this page is for romantics. Each month I plan to add a little more about what to find amid the night skies. There won't be a lot of scientific stuff here... not much about right ascensions and declinations... and for now, nothing that needs fancy lenses or a telescope. All you'll need here is a penchant for dreaming and the hopes of clear skies.

To get started, let's take a look at the basics....
