I received word from the district administrator (not by himself, but through Brenda, my union rep) that my resignation as of the end of the school year was not good enough. I was given three options:

  1. Sign a letter of resignation as of the end of the first semester,
  2. Sign an undated letter of resignation, or
  3. Face the process of termination.

Brenda urged me to resign for the sake of my career. If a teacher is fired during the middle of a school year, that's pretty much the end of his or her career as a teacher... no other district would come close to considering someone who couldn't last a full year. With a resignation at least a teacher, she told me, has a chance to teach again... for example I could say I was facing some personal issue at the time, and by the time I could look for another teaching job I could truthfull state the issue had been resolved.

Well, it was true, I was facing personal issues... the loss of love (with a baby on the way) and the threats on my person, family, and career from psychotic whore Kari affected my behavior to quite an extent. Not that it mattered to the principal nor the district administrator... the infractions of school policy was all either said was their cause for dismissing me.

I chose to sign an undated letter of resignation, in the spirit that I would be able to continue teaching so long as no other violations occurred.

Once Christmas break was over, there were twelve teaching days left in the semester. I saw the writing on the wall on my first day back. After school on Thursday 02 January 2003, Gary, the math teacher in the classroom next door and the only person with the courage and compassion enough to say anything, informed me that each of the other math teachers were asked to be on the interview panel for a replacement for me. Gary said he was told by the principal that I was no longer going to teach at Holmen, either as of the end of the school year or the end of the semester.
