The district administrator informed me over Christmas break that he was still thinking about what to do, that he wanted to be fair, and that if I had any questions at all to please ask. I knew the students and parents were at least being heard, and I emailed the district administrator only one question: How many parents of students in the district are pressing for my dismissal? I said I didn't want to know any of their names, in order to be fair to all students in my classes, I just wanted to know the number of how many there were.

The district administrator never had the balls nor the dignity to answer the question. My guess is it was less than five.

Socrates, in Plato's Apology, informed the citizens of Athens during his defense what would happen if his sentence would be reduced to probation rather than death:

If you say to me, "Socrates, this time you shall be let off, but upon one condition, that you are not to enquire and speculate in this way any more, and that if you are caught doing so again you shall die;" if this was the one condition on which you let me go, I should reply: Men of Athens, I honor and love you; but while I have life and strength I shall never cease from the practice and teaching of philosophy.
