Demos
To throw the perfect grenade takes a bit of practice but with these tips you start fraggin the smart way ;). First I am going start out with the obvious, and then work to the advanced stuff. Ok here it goes. If you didn't know already you should, by pressing your "use" key (usually "e" by default) you can pick up a grenade.
1)Next is learning to prime a grenade. The idea of priming is to shorten the time of explosion so that when you throw your grenade to the enemy he/she won't have enough time to run away. The proper amount of time to hold a grenade is to count three seconds after you've picked it up and then chuck it quickly. If you think you are about to explode with your grenade the best thing to do is sprint running backwards while throwing it to try and lessen the damage you might receive from the blow.
2)Next tip: Hitting your mark is the number one objective of throwing your grenade, other wise your screwed. First thing you have to learn is the physics of the game (which I happen to think are awesome). And the physics get as real as it gets. You must know for the amount of distance you wanna reach the further up you have to look up. (I will supply a demo or 2 showing how to throw accurate) Sometimes your crosshair has to be straight up in the air to get that awesome grenade throw. Now the best way to throw a grenade is by not strafing, strafing kills your accuracy with grenade throws and the grenade curves very much to the direction your strafing to. The best way to hit someone with a grenade is make sure you have them 10 feet BELOW your crosshair.
3)Next tip: Never prime your grenade
unless you know your enemy will be or is there. Now it's time to learn to
get to the details of throwing. I think to get real down to business of
grenade frags is knowing where your enemy will be. You must must must
memorize your flags, not only for grenade throwing but also for rushing,
camping, and teamwork. then you will know where you might be able to hit
someone with a grenade; for instance, I threw a grenade once in the map
rammelle, I was allies just coming out of spawn, and the enemy just captured
the bridge, and I ran and threw a grenade straight out of spawn as far as
possible stood back just to see if I got him and BAM!!! most incredible
thing ever; I nailed him from across the map with a hope and faith that he
will meet the grenade on time :).It's all about timing; I suggest throwing a
grenade on the floor and counting the time it'll take to explode will help
you to feel more confident about time of explosion and enemy meeting
explosion. I counted it to be 5 full seconds but learn that from your own
experience.
To throw a medium distance grenade throw is performed by lifting your crosshair about 3 inches up and walking forward, which will probably make your grenade go about 15-20feet.
To throw a really far grenade is performed by picking your crosshair about an inch down from max point of looking up and sprinting at same time. You first should press and hold fire, and then start to sprint while still holding fire, then let go of fire button; now while your character is throwing the grenade you should pick up your crosshair until where you see all sky and by the time you do that your grenade will be as far as in Santas front yard.
To throw the most ultimate grenade throw known to Day of Defeat history (LOL). It involves all of the last tip plus your proning, and jumping. You first press and hold fire button and then start to sprint while still holding fire button. Then bring your crosshair to full altitude and then when you reach top screen release fire and while doing that at the same exact time you should jump and prone in the air while still looking up and you should send a grenade where Jackie Gleason sends his wife when he gets pissed. ( BANG ZOOM!! TO THE MOON ALICE!!!) LMAO!
