Mike's Word

The End

In the end there is little to behold
For all the trinkets of the past have grown old
The girl I first kissed be mine no longer
Being a friends - she was never mine either
The toys of a lifetime too, have been lost
Books, gifts, mainly a memory have succumbed to frost
The wife I first married chose me though I know no reason
Goodbye she said and I know twas for my treason
The time vanished as fast as the true friends I confided in
Yet nothing moved slower than waiting for a love to produce kin
To that end I recall my pride which constitute five
Their beauty and untamed passion sought to keep me alive
Yet more splendors exist in another whom I love
With her I share my soul as she awaits me in the Heaven above.

Heart
(Dedicated to my niece Jordan Ashley)

Your presence is truly a divine blessing
For life would be null if you were missing
Your parents nurture a gift that is truly rare
Today we all emote profoundly with a joyful tear
Whilst your heart is filled with an adoring innocence
The future anxiously awaits your exotic radiance
That passionate smile you spark flickers in our hearts
To express such purity is unattainable, but tis here my poem starts
You can have the kingdoms of Rome or gracious patience of Saint Theresa
Whatever your ambition, fate will certainly deliver in any realm of your desire
Never throw a deaf ear on a silent cry nor shed a tear on a futile fight
And always walk with your head high when life tosses its imminent plight
Be true to yourself and genuine as can be
For of dignity and integrity you shall be the epitome
Know that true beauty the eyes will never see
But your heart is your map to finding your destiny
When in doubt of those who care and isolation be your only pouting friend
Remember this day we all gathered for you and to posterity we send
A message of love so immeasurable that history will never repeat
Jordan Ashley you are the beat in our hearts, you make us all complete.
