Dissolved Oxygen

Having an adequate amount of dissolved oxygen is very good for a lake or river. When there is not enough dissolved oxygen, then smaller organisms or creatures will die of lack of oxygen. If the water is warm, like during the summer, there will be less dissolved oxygen in the water. In the winter when the water is very cold, there will be more dissolved oxygen in it.

Biotic influences: Organic wastes and fertilizers can cause a change in the amount of DO in the water.

Abiotic influences: Chemicals and the heat are a big factor in abiotic influences.
