Memories of Mama and Daddy come often now. Both families immigrated through Castle Clinton in New York before Ellis Island was built. Before my parents were born, America was a distant dream for their parents.
AMERICA!
The word itself brought tears to their eyes as they planned their future. They traveled by foot, horse and buggy, trains, ocean liners and even a wagon drawn by oxen to reach their new homes. Many of the new citizens found themselves in a German settlement that was founded by the Flusche brothers in Muenster, Texas.
