The foundation has 3 main goals:
To make to safety, health and development of children the world's highest priority.
To be the voice of the voiceless by focusing world wide attention on the needs and rights of all children and to provide children with a forum to express their unique vision for healing the world.
To help create a world where children will live without violence, where children will be free of disease and have healthy lives, and where each generation will have the opportunity to grow into fully participating members of the world community.
The Heal The World Foundation works together with other established and recognized charities both locally and internationally to share in providing the needy and disadvantaged in the world with adequate assistance and support.

Heal The Kids is the most recent initiative developed by the Heal the World Foundation, launched in 2000.
The aim of Heal The Kids is to educate adults on the importance of reprioritizing their lives in order to bring children into the main focus in order to imbue them with the love and devotion which they so badly need and to break the cycle of neglect.The primary focus of Heal The Kids is to direct society into focusing its energies on insuring that each child is brought up in a loving and supportive environment in order to have a happy childhood. .

In the 2000 edition of the Guiness Book Of World Records, Michael Jackson was listed as breaking the world record for the "Most Charities Supported By a Pop Star".
The description written about Michael reads as follows;
"Michael Jackson has supported 39 charity organizations either with monetary donations through sponsorships of their projects or by participating in their silent auctions. The charities involved include AIDS Project L.A., American Cancer Society, BMI Foundation, Inc., Childhelp USA, United Negro College Fund (UNCF), YMCA - 28th Street/Crenshaw, The Sickle Cell Research Foundation and Volunteers of America."

In addition to these charities, in 1986 Michael also set up the "Michael Jackson UNCF Endowed Scholarship Fund". This $1.5 million fund is aimed towards students majoring in performance art and communications, with money given each year to students attending a UNCF member college or university.
