A BOY WHO SUFFERS FROM VITILIGO TELLS ABOUT HIS FEELINGS
"I want to talk to you about Michael Jackson and I don't know how. I know, I know, you're already laughing. You think that the character is ridiculous and you make fun, like everybody, of this black disguised in white. Yet, what I gotta tell you is tragic. I'm gonna reveal something that you don't know and maybe then, you'll see the man with a little more of compassion.
Michael Jackson, after several years of absence, try a return where the success is not guaranteed. Last Friday at New York, everybody who approach him was laughing at him and said that he was whiter than ever. Well, me, I know why he was like that. Years ago, the doctor of Jackson gave a press conference in which he said that Michael had the vitiligo. Like nobody knew what he was talking about, we never heard more about it. But me, I knew what he was talking about. Indeed, I have that decease too, since I was born.
This decease is not mortal, or dangerous, and not contagious. But it does have a dramatic side on everybody. Vitiligo is an absence of pigmentation of the skin. This is why I'm whiter than white and why I have white hairs since a long time. This is why I'm burning at the sun in less than 5 minutes. Today, I don't care but years ago, I was traumatized. Because the decease grows. At first, there's no difference, but after white spots appears and you can't hide them. After, hairs become lighter. Some years later, you are white from toes to head. I wore long clothes to cover my body and I stain my hairs. When I was enough old to have white hairs, I stopped all that. Still, not forgetting that horrible transition.
Michael Jackson has vitiligo. Michael Jackson is black. I lived a drama. Michael Jackson lives a tragedy. For me, vitiligo was white on white. For him, it was white on a black skin. Horror. The temptation, without a doubt of committing suicide. Jackson tries everything to stop the decease. There is no way to stop it. He tries plastic surgeries and nothing change. He use make-up, everybody laugh. He is whiter and whiter. Then all is white. He is the object of all insults. Black community accuse him to betray his race. Jackson disappear during several years. Now, the king of pop is back, everybody laugh. Not me. I don't need anything and I don't ask nothing. But now that you know, I would be thankful if you would laugh a little less when you'll think about Michael Jackson."
