The images on this page are from various sources. Several come from the Republic of Rome game from Avalon Hill. I noted that much of the new artwork had come from there and thought I'd continue the trend. Others come from photographs gleaned from the Internet. I have significantly modified these photos to make them usable for the game. If it becomes necessary, the origin of all photos can be determined.
Welcome to my web page of images I am suggesting for use for the Advanced Civilization Expansion Project. Sorry for this page's crude appearance, but I'm trying to get these items up quickly.
First, an oldie but goodie.
MONOTHEISM
While Christianity is the best known monotheistic religion in the world, its advent is outside the current scope of the game. Therefore I suggest switching the image on the Monotheism card to a symbol from Zoroastrianism.
WRITTEN RECORD
Whew! I'm out of ideas. Hey! How about using the image from the old Academy. Waste not, want not.
ADVANCED MILITARY
Image taken from the "Macedonian Wars" card from Republic of Rome.
ANATOMY
I agree with Velusion that an image from Galen would be perfect. However after spending the better part of a day off pouring over Galen's texts from the Paris Library's website, I was unable to find any usable images.
Therefore, my alternative, Egyptian mummification. Those guys knew their Anatomy, even if they got the function of some of the organs wrong. And unlike Galen, they actually got to autopsy humans.
CULTURAL ASCENDANCY
From a statue of Nike. I don't know, what did you have in mind?
DIASPORA
From the game board of Republic of Rome.
EMPIRICISM
A bust of Aristotle, poster child for the scientific method.
MONUMENT
The statue of Zeus at Olympia, one of the Seven Wonders, from Bullfinch's Mythology.
PROVINCIAL EMPIRE
From the Republic of Rome game board and card. A map of the Roman empire overlayed with a Roman staff.
TRADE EMPIRE
From one of the Republic of Rome Concession cards.
URBANISM
From the Republic of Rome gameboard, again.
WONDER OF THE WORLD
Where else to get this wonderful picture of the Pyraminds from, than the cover of the Civilization box itself.
PUBLIC WORKS
For this, I provide a couple of options:
Part of a Roman acueduct from Spain.
An aqueduct overflow vent, also from Spain I believe.
A Roman public baths.
UNIVERSAL DOCTRINE
Sorry, I don't have any ideas for this one.
