Dr. Mrutyunjay Jena passed his M.Sc. in Botany in the year 2003 and obtained his Ph.D. degree in Botany from Utkal University in the year 2009. He has worked at Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries, Berlin, Germany as DAAD- Fellow (June 2008 to March 2010) and at IARI, New Delhi (December 2010 to July 2011) in Indo-Denmark Project as Post Doctoral Fellow. He has been serving as a Assistant Professor in the P. G. Department of Botany, Berhampur University since 2011 and as a coordinator of the department from Dec.2015- May, 2019. His principal research interest is  Algal biotechnology and Molecular systematic. He has completed one major research project funded by Odisha Forestry Sector Development Project (OSDP), Bhubaneswar. Govt. of Odisha. He is running two  major Projects, one fundeed  by MoEF & CC, Govt. govt. of India since, 2018 and another funded by Sceince &Technology Department, Govt. of Odisha since, 2017. He has guided 01 Ph.D. student and 15 M.Phil. students. He has published 23 research papers in peer reviewed and impact journals and authored 1 monograph. He has attended 35 national and international seminars, conference and workshops in India and abroad. He has organised 01 International Conference, 02 National Conferences and 02 Reserach Methodology Workshops. He was conferred with DAAD–fellowship award by German Academic Exchange Service in 2008, DS-Kothari Post Doctoral fellowship award by UGC, Govt. of India in 2011 and Post Doctoral award at Department of Green Life Science, Sangmyung University, Jongno-gu, Seoul, Korea, supported by Dept. of Science and Technology, Govt. of Korean Republic, 2011.
