HIGH POINTS: Blood. LOW POINTS: U Could, Pet the Fish, Ocean, Fade, Me, Fly.
As you may or may not know I've had a little musical hobby going on for a little while, mostly a little quest to find the worst album ever made. Now I've been taking a little bit of a break from this quest after I listened to Camouflage and saw the true danger of a truly bad pile of crap, but it also means that most of the albums that I've reviewed and given a truly low score were reviewed through mp3s. This album however was not. No, this is the absolute worst album that I have ever paid for. I bought it because I liked Rob Walker, and this was his first band, and they didn't last past this album. I wonder why.
Essentially there is only one problem with this album. All of the songs are exactly the same. Notice that I did not say that they sound exactly the same, like Slayer's Reign In Blood or Samael's Passage. No, these are the same songs. They all resolve around the same simple formula, use the same chords (often in the exact same order), and so on. Track after track of just simple generic hard grunge rock. Luckily they're playing a decent song over and over, rather than a bad song over and over, in which case I would have had to throw this down to the same level as Three Dollar Bill Y'all$.
There is one exception. "Blood" is a good song, and it's kinda different too! Yeah! That's what we need! It's a powerful song about a friend of Rob's getting shot and killed or something. It's a little bit of a change of pace, and that's what matters. The others are tolerable, and maybe you can enjoy it if you turn your brain and memory off for a little while, also you won't realize that it's just the same thing again and again. Oh, Free At Last is worse than this album, but I borrowed that from someone. That one was worth neither my money nor my hard drive space.
