10 FROM 6 (1985)

(reviewed by Casey Brennan)

This is Bad Company's greatest hits album, containing all of their monster FM radio hits such as "Can't Get Enough", "Feel Like Makin' Love", "Shooting Star", and others. Most of them were written by Bad Company's chief songwriter Mick Ralphs, who came out of the glam rock outfit Mott The Hoople, but left because of personal differences. This might be as far as you want to venture into this mostly boring generic mid-1970's bluesy rock band. The hits that I heard on here that are the lesser known ones aren't really anything special, which accounts for nearly half of the songs. One thing that doesn't make sense is the title, 10 From 6 meaning 10 songs from 6 albums when their are only songs from 5 albums on here. I wonder what smoke they've been cracking,.... I mean what crack they've been smoking.

OVERALL RATING: 6

Gonna have to agree with Casey here. I don't like Bad Company much at all. Generic riffs (especially during the awful "feel like making love" one of the dumbest vocal strings ever), generic vocals, generic stadium anthems that mostly sound the same. I actually saw the band once (I think it was Hard Rock Live) and man did they suck. The vocalist must have stretched "making love" three or four minutes beyond its normal running time by repeating that awful refrain over and over at the end. Of course, the over the hill crowd didn't help either. ;-)
