CESSNA CRANE #7829

The Cessna Crane,or T50 was manufactured by the Cessna Aircraft Company,Wichita,Kansas USA as a commercial type aircraft, and later used for the purpose of training Pilots and Navigators on twin-engine aircraft in the Air Training Plan.

The aircraft was constructed mainly of wood and fabric, and powered by two Jacobs L4,245 HP engines. Approximately 830 Cessna Cranes were purchased for the RCAF in 1941/42.

Cessna Crane #7829 was taken on strength July 19,1941 and flew at Brandon,Man / Saskatoon,Sk and Pearce Alta. It was struck off strength November 22,1945 and disposed of by War Assets to a private collector of Dinsmore Sk.

After a period of reposing in a farmers field for approximatly 35 years (it was in a very deplorable state) it was purchased by the Western Development Museum, for possible restoration,as part of the proposed BCATP Gallery.

Restoration began in 1982 and was completed in 1986 by the Vintage Aircraft Restorers.
