AVRO ANSON MKI AIRCRAFT #R9725

In November 1940, the first contingent of R.A.F. pilot trainees arrived from Tern Hill, England, to enter the B.C.A.T.P. and continue their training at #32 SFTS in Moose jaw. This contingent brought with them, eight Avro Anson MKI Aircraft, to maintain their training until sufficient Harvard Aircraft became available. Of the eight Anson aircraft brought to Moose jaw, in 1940, Aircraft #R9725 was the only one remaining at War's end in 1945.

Aircraft R9725 was manufactured by Avro Aircraft Co., Manchester, England, in 1938/39 and arrived in Canada 16 September 1940. It was taken on strength by the R.C.A.F. 12 October 1940. It served at #32 SFTS Moose Jaw, #1 CNS Rivers, Manitoba, #6 AOS Prince Albert and #33SFTS Carberry, Manitoba. It was stored at Estevan 8 November 1945 and declared surplus by War Assets, was purchased by a private citizen at Weyburn, Saskatchewan in 1946 and remained on his farm until transported to the W.D.M. Moose jaw 30 October 1986.

Restoration commenced 1 November 1986 by the Vintage Aircraft Restorers approximately forty-six years after its original arrival at #32 SFTS Moose Jaw.
