1948: THE FIRST EASILY RECOGNIZED SIGN OF THE APPROACHING END OF THIS AGE

Israel declared her Independence May 14, 1948. To people that knew Bible prophecy, this was a major signal that the end of this age was near. Eze. 38:8 says, "in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them." Israel fought her war of Independence, signed armistice agreements, and was finally accepted into the United Nations on May 11, 1949.

1967: THE SIGN OF THE END OF THE AGE

This Sign of the End of the Age was what we were to watch for to enable us to figure out when the end of the age would be. In 1967, Israel fulfilled the Fig Tree Parable in Mt. 24:32-34. In answering the question what would be the sign of his coming and the end of the age (Mt. 24:3), Jesus said, "Now learn a parable of the fig tree (Israel, Joel 1:6,7); When his branch (klados, scion broken off for grafting, i.e., modern Israel grafted into her old rootstock) is yet tender (apalos, young, i.e., 19 years old), and putteth forth leaves (Sinai, Gaza Strip, Golan Heights and West Bank), ye know that summer is nigh (the Six-Day War started June 5 and summer began June 21): So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it (the Rapture) is near, even at the doors (there are two Raptures). Verily I say unto you, This generation (born in 1967) shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled."

When Israel first became a nation when she came out of Egypt, the males 20 and up were counted. The 19-year-olds were the young. A generation was demonstrated to be 40 years, not only in the wilderness, but in 30 AD, Jesus told the Pharisees that "All these things shall come upon this generation" (Mt. 23:36). They did, in 70 AD, just 40 years later. If we start with 1967 and add 40 years, we come to 2007 for the end of this age (1948 + 19 = 1967)(1967 + 40 = 2007). I think this age ends Elul 29, 5767 and the millennial Day of the Lord begins Tishri 1, 5768, our Sept. 13, 2007.

There may be a gap between the first Rapture and the beginning of the Tribulation. The Revelation of Jesus Christ is written as if the Rapture were at hand. It is "at hand" in 1:3 and 22:10, the first and last chapters. Jesus signs off with, "Surely I come quickly." He comes quickly at the Rapture (2:5). After the Pre-Trib Rapture in 4:1, John is told that he will also be shown "things which must be hereafter." In each section thereafter, we have to examine it carefully to find the match marks that will show us where to fit it into its correct setting in time.

In Rev. 17:12, the ten kings "have received no kingdom as yet," therefore the setting for that section is the time of the Rapture. These kings "receive power as kings one hour with the beast. These have one mind, and shall (future tense) give their power and strength unto the beast" (17:12,13). In Rev. 13:1, where the setting is the beginning of the seven-year Tribulation, The Beast comes to power and the ten kings are crowned.

When the time of the Rapture is at hand, the Philadelphians (Rev. 3:7-13) win the prize (I Cor. 9:24f) of the "high calling" (Phil. 3:14). The Laodiceans (Rev. 3:14-22) are castaways (I Cor. 9:27), spewed out of Christ's mouth (Rev. 3:16). They are believers because they have to be in Christ to be spewed out of his mouth. They are too lukewarm and are the ones he will "chasten" (Rev. 3:19) during the Tribulation (Rev. 3:19).

The Philadelphians are the wise virgins, the Laodiceans, the foolish ones who lack enough oil (Holy Spirit) to be chosen as the Bride of Christ and go to Heaven in the first group. We must confess all our sins committed since we accepted Christ to bring them all under the blood of Christ (Rev. 7:14). Then we stand before him clad in the white wedding garment, which "is the righteousness (lit., righteousnesses) of saints. This includes both Christ's righteousness that wiped out our old sins when we accepted him and our righteous acts done in the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit since our Salvation. At the Marriage of the Lamb, "his wife hath made herself ready" (Rev. 19:7). We must be ready when Christ comes for us. There will be no time to prepare at that point in time. The foolish virgins of Mt. 25:1-13 are the Laodiceans of Rev. 3:14-22.

MICAH 7: DRAMATIC VIEW OF THE TRIBULATION SAINTS LEFT BEHIND AT THE PRE-TRIB RAPTURE

"WOE is me! (playing the part of one left behind at the Pre-Trib Rapture) for I am as (symbolic language) when they have gathered (asaph, removed, taken away) the SUMMER FRUITS, as the grapegleanings of the vintage (the Pre-Wrath Rapture will be on the Feast of Trumpets, the time of the vintage): there is no cluster to eat: MY SOUL DESIRED THE FIRSTRIPE FRUIT (gathered at the first Rapture). The good man is PERISHED (avad, has been caused to VANISH) OUT OF THE EARTH (at the Pre-Trib Rapture): and there is none upright among men (the righteous were caught up to Heaven): they all lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man his brother with a net. That they may do evil with both hands earnestly, the prince asketh, and the judge asketh for a reward (bribe); and the great man, he uttereth his mischievous desire: so they wrap it up. The best of them is as a brier: the most upright is sharper than a thorn hedge: the day of thy watchmen and thy visitation cometh (Moses and Elijah will come as the Tribulation begins); NOW shall be their perplexity (during the Tribulation)...Therefore I (as a Tribulation saint) will look unto the LORD; I WILL WAIT for the God of my salvation (Christ): my God will hear me. Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I SHALL ARISE; WHEN I SIT IN DARKNESS (after the sixth seal breaks, Rev. 6:12), the LORD shall be a light unto me (the Sign of the Son of Man [Mt. 24:30] will be seen that day when the heavens roll back like a scroll, Rev. 6:14). I will bear the indignation of the LORD, BECAUSE I HAVE SINNED AGAINST HIM (unconfessed sin), until he plead my cause, and execute judgment (the Judgment Seat of Christ is the next day) for me: he will BRING ME FORTH (like Noah's 'Go forth') to the light (the Pre-Wrath Rapture), and I shall behold his (Christ's) righteousness. Then she (the harlot Mystery Religion of Babylon) that is mine enemy shall see it (the Sign of the Son of Man), and shame shall cover her which said unto me, Where is the LORD thy God? mine eyes shall behold her: NOW shall she be trodden down as the mire of the streets" (the seven trumpet judgments will hit Earth by noon that day, Zeph. 2:4,5, and Babylon will be destroyed by an asteroid, Rev. 18:21).

Verses 15 and 16 say, "According to the day of thy coming out of the land of Egypt (40 years) will I shew unto him marvellous things. The nations shall see and be confounded at all their might (Israel's). The last 40 years of this age began at the Six-Day War. The nations did see Israel's might. The Lord helped her for that year was to be the Sign of the End of the Age. No matter what she does later, that was the first time she grew such huge leaves. That is a fact of history that cannot be changed.

Verse 18 says, "Who is a God like unto thee (Christ, YHVH of hosts, Isa. 44:6), that PARDONETH INIQUITY, and passeth by the transgression of THE REMNANT of his (Christ's) heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy."

The Laodiceans are chastised by having to go through the shortened Tribulation, but we see from Rev. 7:14 that they do wash their robes in the blood of Christ before they stand before the throne in Heaven. If we would confess our sins later anyway, why not confess them now and be caught up to Heaven before the Tribulation starts?
