BIG 12Championship Game
Mizzou vs. Oklahoma
Our deepest sympathy to the O'Neal family for the loss of their son.
No words better describe this most excellent of young men than to ask,

"What's good?"

Let's not get wrapped up in always having to hammer folks with that condescending attitude about what (or who) you think is not so good; but rather, focus on
what's good about Mizzou and it's programs, and make constructive suggestions on how to improve, instead of attacking people and/or their character because of what you perceive to be their shortcomings.

Mizzou Crushes Kansas' Hopes!
#1 in Associated Press Poll.
Gameday Pictures
by Sarah Becking
Mizzou jumped out to a 21-0 lead early in the 3rd quarter against the previously, and oft questioned jayhawk team in Kansas City in the regular season finale, and never looked back.  Like a cat toying with a mouse, Mizzou amused itself by letting Kansas complete some long passes at the end of the game, but it was the guided missiles of Chase Daniel that had the announcers calling the game a win for Mizzou, even though Kansas got the ball needing only a TD to win.  Congratulations to the Tiger football team.  Read more on MU's website.
MIZZOU COACH GARY PINKEL DESERVES COACH OF THE YEAR AWARD
Missouri Head Football Coach Gary Pinkel is taking the Mizzou football team to new heights.  This team has finally broken through those glass ceilings that have held Mizzou down for so very many years.  No more 5th downs.  No more kicked balls.  No more phantom touchdowns.  Even when the referees call 14 penalties against Mizzou, Coach Pinkel's team has not quit.  This is one of the all time great coaching jobs after decades of disappointment has plagued this team.  Congrats Gary. You're the best.
Mizzou Men's Basketball Team Off To Strong Start
The Mizzou Men's Basketball Team is off to a very good start this season at 4-1, and winning 50-15, that's right, fifty to fifteen at the half of today's game..  Mizzou won 2 early round games against lesser opponents to start the season and advance to Kansas City in the MBE Tournament.

In K.C., Mizzou lost to a top 15 team in Michigan State by 3 points, and bounced back to win against Maryland.. Michigan State in it's only loss of the season fell co-#1 UCLA in the championship game..

Mizzou has a tough non-conference schedule this year with road games against California, Arkansas, Mississippi State, and neutral site games against Michigan State, Maryland, Illinois.  They will certainly be battle tested by the time the BIG 12 regular season rolls around.

Look for Mizzou to be in the mix to get back to the Big Dance come March.

Recruiting Wars
Let's face it, there is no substitute for winning when it comes to recruiting.  That is the number one issue for most blue chip recruits.  Players want to play to win.  Additionally, they want to further their prospects for a career as a professional athlete.  If a recruit is looking at two schools that are otherwise on equal footing, but one offers a better chance for them to live their dream of playing as a pro, they will most likely go to where they feel they will get the most assistance accomplishing that dream.

BEYOND those things, I would like to draw your attention to how you can promote your Missouri Tigers.  Arrange for current and past Mizzou athletes to pay a visit to your child's grade school or junior high school.  There are reading and mentoring programs available, or they could spend an hour instructing these youngsters in their sport.  These impressions last a lifetime, and breed a loyalty that cannot be bought.  They come away with visions of playing their sport where their heros played; and make no mistake, any adult who gives honest time to a child becomes a hero and a role model to them.

It's easy to sit back and complain about what's wrong, but it takes strong character and vision for the future to refrain from taking cheap shots and to put forth the effort to actually make a change for the better.  It takes a lifetime to develope this kind of loyalty statewide.  Let's get started.
Some days, life is just really really good!!!
