Well, first off, Michael is NOT my first character. I had two characters before him, but they didn't perform well in the early stages of my role play career... where I role played in the Sonic the Hedgehog RP Private Room, "Knothole" (Sonic being copyright of Sega) and also in the Megaman X Private Room "MHHQ" (Megaman X being copyright of Capcom). Since those miserable times of weakness, I needed someone who could make an impact. My first two characters did not perform well because I did not relate well to their personality. I needed a character that I could see the point of view from. That I knew how he felt from each blow he took as well as the dramatic storylines he was involved in. So, during one of my usual RP searching, I came across the Sailor Moon RPG room. Earlier that day, I created four characters... Captain X, Black Widow (female), Dark Fantasy, and another character I could not remember the name of. So as I contemplated what to do, I eventually decided to make a bold move. Sailor Mercury was not my favorite character from the series (At the time, it was Sailor Venus but now I know better), but she certainly would be perfect to create my star from. Someone who was similar to Sailor Mercury, yet different in his own ways. But I managed to succeed in creating a character. I would eventually fall into the anime genre of RPing known as Sailor Moon, leaving Knothole and MHHQ... never looking back. I had seen the dubbed version of Sailor Moon and it got me hooked for longer than I could possibly fathom. I felt guilty because it seemed directed to young girls, but I just enjoyed it anyway. I just kept it under low profile because I didn't want anyone to know... my parents didn't seem to accept it and I knew the kids in my school would crusify me if they knew. So, for a very long time, I kept it underwraps... so no one would ever find out in real life. Yet, in the Public Chatroom, "Sailor Moon RPG" in AOL, I flourished. I met a friend who RPed as Sailor Venus (She stopped RPing a few years ago. I've known her longer than any other online friend) and we RPed quite a lot. Before Michael Mizuno was known as Michael Mizuno, he was known as Robert Anderson (The dubbed version calling Sailor Mercury "Amy Anderson") Robert being my actual first name. Yeah, lame as hell, but... it was the best I could come up with. Thankfully, Robert Anderson was his call name in which he was rarely that identity. He was always fighting and attacking the Sailor Scouts (Which now I call them the Sailor SENSHI) as his transformed alter-ego, Dark Fantasy. "Dark" was his call name and by some, "DF" which was all right, but I liked "Dark" better. I flourished and about 98% of my online friends were female because they were much nicer to me than males were. That and the male population who enjoyed Sailor Moon was extremely thin. But I didn't care very much. I was happy they accepted me online instead of in real life where I didn't look the greatest. Anyway, I eventually changed Michael's name when I heard more about the Japanese Sailor Moon. What was really uncut and stuff like that. So, it was Robert Mizuno which sounded better, though, I always had a thing for the name "Michael" I thought it was a cool name even though the spelling was always different. I went for "Michael" instead of "Micheal" and bam, Michael Mizuno was born. Even though still named "Dark Fantasy", I wanted a bang to it. So, the Mega Man X series came to mind. The "X" seemed to have a seasoned flare to it, so it was "Dark Fantasy X" though as RPs grew on, so did different genres. I enjoyed medieval the most out of everything... the Final Fantasy (Copyright of Square enix) type stuff (Final Fantasy VII strongly runs through me, my friend Nikki, and now Michael as I have transformed a lot of Michael's bases from Final Fantasy RP that I've done with Nikki. She's the greatest ~_^) Michael has been through the Dragonball Z stage, Sailor Moon, Final Fantasy, hell, even things I never thought I could use him for such as wrestling, Pokemon (Copyright of Nintendo and Game Freaks), and Star Wars. But yeah, that's how I came up with Michael. In short, Michael is a character I made up to satisfy my taste for the lack of good male Sailor Moon characters available. So he's mostly a fanfiction type character. Is that wrong? I don't think so. But then again, I'm not always right either. He's just pretty cool when I just think about it. Some resembalances to Marth from Fire Emblem? Some, yes. But it's a coicidental since the idea for Michael's armor is exactly what I designed him to wear. But all in all, Michael's just a created character by me for the Sailor Moon series. Am I ruining Naoko's work? I certainly don't think so. Michael's been holding the torch for my RPing career for a long time, so I think the brother of Sailor Mercury, though an unoriginal idea today, still works for me even today. But by all means, argue this point with me all you want.
