You can't tell, but this is actually a ritual fairy sacrifice. Poor, ignorant girl. |

Now that I'm old enough to understand more than, this is my country so I must love it, I can understand why I should love it. People always say things like Americans are lazy, and boring, and weird, and stuck up. But, how can you say that, when everyone is an American? American really isn't a type of person, because everyone has a little American in them. Americans are people from everywhere, and everytime who just want to be free. Free to live their lives the way they should be able to. No one's perfect, niether is any one place. But, at least in America, we strive for independence for everyone. Not just dream about it. La lalalalalal America! |

So, I've noticed more and more of my friends striving to be unique and special. At first, I was thinking, that's really cool, doing what they want. Being how that please. But, now I realize something else. I discovered what I was saying. Striving to be unique? That's not right. Just be yourself! It drives me crazy how many people take that expression the wrong way. When they say this they don't mean to spike your hair, and wear all black, and worship satan. It means, do what you want, what you're comfotable with, and what you feel is right. I used to be ashamed at how I never had the courage to dress like outrageous. Funky socks, and tails, and cloaks, and wild skirts. It took me a while to realize that the only reason I didn't is because I really didn't want to. I've always been unique, and special. I wear what I like! I act how I like, and talk how I like, and think how I like. This doesn't mean that I have no regard for the rules, though. It just means that I'm not going to let silly things change the way I am for the sake of other people. That is being yourself. Now, this also doesn't mean that I don't care what people think. Everyone does. But, well, have you ever heard the phrase, something along the lines of, "If you really knew how little people judge you, you wouldn't care so much." I guess I sort of go by that quote everytime I'm scared people will make fun of me. Just be yourself! It's something that requires the least effort of all. People need to remember that. If you have to find out who you are before you be yourself, then you're not being true. Be yourself. |

To estimate. When you estimate, you don't know the answer. So, you guess. Now, say you were to underestimate. That means you don't know, and guess below the actual answer. Big deal, right? Maybe, in some cases. But, when it comes to people, it is a big deal. I can't tell tou how many people underestimate me. Or, how much it hurts me. People take one look at me and say, you're too young, you're too tall, you're not smart enough. You write? I didn't think you would be into that kind of stuff. Yeah, that's the problem. YOU DON'T THINK. Maybe, if you got to know me more than you think you do, then you would see that I am good at sports, I do love to write, I would wear a skirt to school (despite my rather tomboyish personality), and when I tell you I already understand what you're explaining to me, I really do already understand. I like learning new things. I spent half of my science class reading the posters on the wall about the past century of scientific discoveries while other kids just sat and talked or doodled. So, if I had no idea what you were talking about, why would I insist that I know? To get you off my back about it? Maybe, but that's not the type of persson I am. If you got to know me better, you would know that wouldn't you? Don't underestimate. And, if you must, then keep it to yourself. Because no one likes to know how many people think less of them. Trust me. |
