| HUMANITY In this world where I stand not amongst the chosen few I don't drive a fancy car never acquired the taste for caviar Paris never traveled quite that far looked in the sky realized that I can't name one star raised by a single mother me and my younger brother took the option of staying strong for oneanother no strangers to "public aid" that's how our rent got paid I was my mother's maid her master chef and receptionist too my pleasure to help momma through her stuggles with motherhood I did all I could the present came to change us all and some came to rise while others came to fall Our struggles of yesterday I fear now appear the good times its extreme I mean the way we all fell like the domino effect all catching our personal versions of hell makes my head swell with sorrow praying for bighter tomorrow when I'm no longer forced to the position of borrow when my brother's no longer on the grind when momma stops smokin all the crack-cocaine she finds When I locate peace of mind in this world where I stand not amongst the chosen few! |
