THE MANY FACES OF CINDERELLA
PROJECT PROFILE

The purpose of this project is to introduce and familiarize students with various Cinderella versions from around the world. 
It will also allow students to compare and contrast these versions with the well-known classic Disney version of Cinderella.  Students will be given the task of creating their own modern day version of Cinderella and publish their work on the World Wide Web for everyone to read.



LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this project the student will be able to:

1. Compare and contrast the Vietnamese   
    version of Cinderella with the classic   
    Disney version.
2. Compare and contrast the Russian version
    of Cinderella with the classic Disney
    version.
3. Compare and contrast the Italian version
    of Cinderella with the classic Disney
    version.
4. Create a modern version of Cinderella.
5. Publish their story on the World Wide
    Web.

CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT

In order for this project to be successful, the teacher must establish rules and procedures for the students to follow throughout this project.  Students will be working in coopertaive groups.  Each group will meet once a week during classtime at the Media Center for access to the Internet and/or discussions and prepartion of project.  This project should be completed in 4 to 6 weeks.  A behavioral plan will be developed to facilitate the coopertaive groups.

PRE-REQUISITE ACTIVITY

Before begininng this project, all students will be required to read the same classic Disney version of Cinderella.  Teacher will provide students with a copy.

PROCEDURE

1. Sudents will read classic Disney's   
    Cinderella.
2. Students will read each of the 3 versions
    of Cinderella found under "CLICK HERE
    FOR CINDERELLA STORIES".
3. Students will create a Venn Diagram
    comparing and contrastting each version
    with the Disney version.
4. Students will orally discuss their findings
    within their group.
5. Students will create their own modern
    day version of Cinderella.
6. Students will publish their story on the
    World Wide Web by clicking on "CLICK
    HERE TO PUBLISH YOUR STORY!"

EVALUATION/ASSESSMENT

Students will be assessed in their ability to create their own detailed modern day version of Cinderella and their ability to successfully publish their store on the World Wide Web.
