I am currently conducting a survey on Knowledge Sharing in Online Communities for my MSc dissertation. The aim of the paper is to study the effectiveness of online networks as a tool in sharing knowledge within virtual communities. It is believed that online networks present and effective medium for sharing knowledge and therefore the outcome of this study can be used as an indication and reference for organisations in their efforts to manage and share knowledge. The data and information from the surveys will be compared against the expected outcomes of a knowledge sharing module within a KMS. Factors influencing knowledge sharing would be observed and of particular interest as to how they contribute toward the success or the failure of the initiative.
