my favorite dames
i love the old rich new york city ladies i regularly see when i'm up near my afternoon job in midtown. the ones i'm talking about are skeletal and dressed to the nines in a coordinated ensemble, perfectly coiffed, teetering on heels and usually wearing giant Jackie O glasses, a hat, gloves, and/or other large, dead-on vintage accessories. sometimes they look cartoonishly great, others just look cartoonish. i've only just begun taking photos of them but will add more as i get them.
(left) cabbage roses--a theme few non-texan women dare to explore. unfortunately in my desperation to quickly snap this photo with my new phone without flailing around and falling into the street, the best part was not properly captured--her towering, flaming-red beehive.
(below) this lady is the opposite of the type i described earlier, but she is also awesome. i see her every day looking so delicate, draped over the donation bottle like a gust of wind might take her away. i guess like the other people who collect for this organization, she used to be homeless. i should probably donate to them since i took her picture and all.
more soon!
