| I could have a lot of free time in wood shop if I didn't have people giving suggestions as to what I should build. I've made many thing in my spare time, and I often finish them in my spare time providing I have a large project going. This was not one of the projects I could finish in my spare time. In fact I ran out of time and had to come in while school was out for seniors. I started selecting the scrap wood that would make this project, and glued them up in my spare time. Everything else required my full attention. Once I finished building all the pieces I had to figure out how to glue them together. I decided to use biskets, and a lot of scrap to get two parralel lines that would allow two perpendicular clamps on either side of the corner which secured the scrap in place. It took me five days to glue it all. After that I ran through around five different shapes that seemed befitting of the newly apparent web design in the grain. After going through numerous complex designs, I decided that the simplest design looked best. So I stuck with the elongated oval. The hand made hooks were a sugestion of Mr. Pickard. All it took to build them was eight 1/16th inch strips of wood, a solid chunk of wood in which I cut a wave in to glued clamped and let dry, and a lot of sanding. |
