Two of Three

Curiously I can observe two signs. When the skies are clear, a blue canvas as far as my eye can see, I feel awake in a shower of warmth. An atmosphere of reviving energy empowers me, as if it were fresh fuel replacing the spent. Away from the sunny day’s I eventually feel tired and lazy. When I am down spirited stuck indoors under artificial lights, I often think I can just go out on a nice day and feel more vibrant. I wonder what makes me feel alive, what has this kind of power? I've learned from childhood study that the sun is too bright; it is simply too powerful to look at. Every once in a while I snag a glimpse of the unavoidable sun and am instantly reminded why I don't look at it; sort of like remembering the agony of touching a hot stove as a kid.

From the glimpses I've caught, I know that the sun is a ball of pure light powerful enough to spread that much life across the entire world - to everyone. I look off to the side and notice the moon. It's bright like the sun, but not unbearable. Looking at the moon, as I've been taught, is actually looking at the sun's light - a reflection. While it's not the entire sun's light, only part, it still gives me a better impression of the sun. I can stare at the moon and contemplate the light source it is reflecting. I can watch the moon realizing that while it's not looking at the entire sun, it still reflects enough light for the entire world to see. How potent must this sun really be to be able to light the world with a partial reflection? I wonder whether it’s true; is the moonlight actually the sunlight being reflected? I guess I'll just have to believe.

If there were a sign above earth that hinted something formerly inconceivable, would anybody notice?
