Here's some compiled info on the kinds of stout that I've found available here in the good ol' LBC.  Having first been introduced to stout beer in the form of Guinness by way of listening to Flogging Molly, the Pogues,  and the Dropkick Murphys I've abandoned my palatte for pilsners, ales and (most) lagers.  Drinking, and fiending for a good stout beer is an acquired taste that people either sweetly suffer from, or don't - and I'll admit to the former.  So, without any further adieu, my current stoutical' statistics:
*Finally found some
Stone Imperial Stout, and
Beamish:
Stone is an Imperial style stout, but it's in no comparison to BJ's Tatanka, as it's reminiscent of Young's Double Chocolate;
Beamish
Murphys Stout
- real creamy head, wish I had an actual pint glass at home instead of the Big Gulp
plastic cup I was using from 7-11
- what sets this apart from Guinness, in my opinion is the glimmer of berries or a back of the
   tongue fruity tart taste
- I really liked this beer, I'd set it as a tie to Guinness...now if I could only find a pint of
  Beamish

Rogue Shakespeare Stout
- ooh, a "World Champion Stout"
- not bad, not great, an American Stout brewed in Oregon
- thin, dark foamy head
- it probably would've helped had I eaten something before or while I was imbibing this
bevergage (like a bloody medium rare steak)

Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout
- I was in awe while I was pouring to see that the bottle was actually clear, the only
translucent stout bottle I've seen so far
- took a while to get through the foamy head
- it was only in the latter course of my drinking once the beer started to warm up some that I
began to taste the actual oats

Young's Double Chocolate Stout
- Man, what kind of chocolate did they use here?  Hershey's...I think not.
- tasted like that dark bitter chocolate no one likes mixed with malt, hops and alcohol
- the alcohol's the only thing I liked about this beer...once I'd finished the pint I was
tipsy a bit, or was it nauseous?
- really upset my guts, I could've kept an air balloon afloat for quite some time

Black Seal Stout
- had this down at the Rock Bottom Brewery in downtown Long Beach
- good creamy head, and real dark body
- I actaully had a steak with this, and the meal in its entirety was exquisite
- needed a cigarette to compliment the mix

Tatonka Stout
- the only Imperial style stout I've had since I can't find a bottle of Stone Imperial
- the first time I had it, it took me the entire pizza (it's a BJ's brew)to finish
- considerable alcohol content
- a great beer, I'd have gotten another pint had I another hour to stay
- the BJ's on 2nd street has a better brew than the one in Cerritos

BJ's Oatmeal Stout
- hmmm...it's an oatmeal style stout
- what else....it's brewed at BJ's
- Their porter had more kick

Guinness Extra Stout
- yarrr, a great beer for monthes at sea since it has a higher alcohol and carbonation content
- a good diagonal step up from regular stout whenever you feel like changing things up
- a more puissant espresso and wood taste than regular Guinness
- a six pack and a lackadaisical afternoon pair hand in hand perfectly

Guinness
- In my opinion, the standard for all stout beers
- creamy head and a dark body that's a site to be seen as a pint's being poured and settling
- damn Costco doesn't sell the 24packs anymore, rat bastards
- definitely tastes better direct from a tap, but then the order goes cans, then bottles
