Corn On The Cob
Size 44" x 54" before fringing
Materials:
Worsted weight yarn 25 oz. yellow
Size K aluminum crochet hook (or size required for gauge)
Gauge: 8 dc = 3 � "
Instructions: Loosely ch 136.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across; 135 sc, ch3, turn (turning ch counts as first st of row throughout)
Row 2: Dc in each of next 3 sc; *sk 3 sts, shell of (4 dc, ch 1, 4 dc) all in next st; sk 3 sts, dc in next 8 sts; rep from * across to last 11 sts, sk 3 sts, shell in next st. sk 3 sts, dc in last 4 sts; ch 3, turn.
Row 3: Dc in each of next 3 dc; * ch 4, sc into ch-1 sp of shell, ch 4, dc in next 8 dc; rep from * across, ending by working 4 dc instead of 8; ch 3, turn.
Row 4: Dc in next 3 dc; * into center sc of next group, work a shell; dc in next 8 dc; rep from * across, ending by working 4 dc instead of 8; ch 3, turn.
Rep Rows 3 and 4 for pattern. Work in pattern until piece measures 54", ending by working Row 4; ch 1, turn.
Last Row: Sc in next 3 dc; ch 3, sc in center of group; * ch 3, sc in center of group, ch 3, sc in next 8 dc; rep from * across, ending with 4 sc. Finish off.
Fringe
Cut strands 16" long and use 6 strands for each knot. Knot in center st of each shell group across each short end.








Rose Garden Afghan
Gauge: Each square = 5 1/2".
Square 1: Make 12. With white, ch 6, join with sl st to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 3 for first dc, 2 dc in ring, ch 2 for corner, (3 dc in ring, ch 2) 3 times; join to top of starting ch. Cut yarn.
Rnd 2: Join rose at any ch-2 corner, ch 3 for first dc, in same space work 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc (starting corner), ch 1, (in next ch-2 space work 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 1) 3 times; join to top of starting ch. Cut yarn.
Rnd 3: Join white in any ch-2 corner, work starting corner, * ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-1 space, ch 1, in next space work 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc (corner); repeat from * 2 times more, end ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-1 space, ch 1, join to top of starting ch. Cut yarn.
Rnd 4: Join green in any ch-2 corner, work starting corner, * (ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-1 space) 2 times, ch 1, work corner in next corner space; repeat from * 2 times more, end (ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-1 space) 2 times, ch 1, join to top of starting ch.
Square 2: Make 36. Work same as Square 1 in the following colors:
Rnd 1: White. Rnd 2: Green. Rnd 3: White. Rnd 4: Rose.
Afghan: Center Square: With white, work same as Square 1 through Rnd 4.
Rnd 5: Sl st to corner space, work starting corner, * ch 1, work 3 dc in next ch-1 space; repeat from * to next corner, ch 1, work corner in corner space. Continue around in pattern as established, ending ch 1, join.
Rnds 6 through 8: Continue working in pattern as established,
having one more 3 dc group between corners on each rnd. At end of Rnd 8, break off white.
Joining Square 1 Motifs to Center Square:
Sew 2 strips of 4 squares each and 2 strips of 2 squares each. Arrange and sew a 2 square unit to opposite sides of
center square. (Note: Be very careful to match stitches evenly.) Arrange and sew a 4 square unit on the two remaining sides of the center square, being careful to match stitches with center square and unit already in place.
Next Rnd: Join white at any corner, ch 3 for first dc, in same space work 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 1, (3 dc, ch 1) in each ch-1 space to seam; at seam work dc in first corner, dc in seam, dc in second corner, ch 1 (work through all seams in this manner). Continue in * 3 dc, ch 1 pattern as established to corner, work corner in corner space; repeat from * around. Join to top of starting ch.
Next 15 Rnds: Work in pattern as established having one more 3 dc group between corners on each rnd.
Joining Square 2 Motifs At Outside Edge: Sew 2 strips of 8 squares each and 2 strips of 10 squares each. Arrange and sew 8 square units at opposite edges of afghan being careful to match stitches as before. Arrange and sew 10 square units at 2 remaining edges.
Border: Join white at any corner, work around entire piece in 3 dc, ch 1 pattern, working through seams as before. Cut white. Join green at corner and work around in established pattern.
Shell Edge: Sl st over 1 dc, sc in next dc (center dc of group), work 5 dc in corner, * sc in center of next 3 dc group, 4 dc in next ch-1 space; repeat from * to corner, in corner work 5 dc. Continue around entire piece in this manner, join to first sc.








Crocheted Slippers
Materials Needed: 3.5 ozs. worsted weight yarn in blue and small amount of white , H hook
Special Stitch: Long Half Double Crochet LHDC: YO hook ,insert hook in the skipped st one row below the row that you are working on, draw up a loop, YO and draw through all 3 loops on hook.
Directions:
ch 4 join with a sl st to form a ring
Round 1 - ch 2, work 11 hdc in ring, (12) join with a sl st to top of ch 2, NOTE: beginning ch 2 counts as first hdc here and throughout
Round 2- ch 2, hdc in same st as joining , work 2 hdc in each st around (24) join with a sl st to top of ch 2
Round 3 - ch 2, hdc in next 2 sts, 2 hdc in next st, * hdc in next 3 sts, 2 hdc in next st* continue from *to * around join with a sl st to top of ch 2 (30)
Round 4-17 ch 2, hdc in each st around, join with a sl st to top of ch 2 (30)
NOTE: you are now working in rows, you will ch 2 and turn at the end of each row
Row 18 - ch 2, hdc in next 25 sts, DO NOT work anything in the last 4 sts, ch 2 turn (26)
Row 19-25 hdc in each st across, ch 2 turn (26)
HDC Decrease (hdc dec) - yo hook, insert hook in next st, pull up a loop, insert hook in next st, pull up a loop, yo hook and pull through all 4 loops on hook.
Row 26 - hdc in next 10 sts,( hdc dec in next 2 sts) 2 times hdc in next 11 sts, ch 2 turn
Round 27 - hdc in next 9 sts, (hdc dec in next 2 sts) 2 times, hdc in next 10 sts, ch 2 turn
Round 28 - hdc in each st across
Round 29- hdc in each st across join first st and last st of round 29 together with a sl st, Fasten off blue, leave a length of yarn to sew up the back of the slipper.
You are now working the cuff of the slipper that goes around your ankle
Round 30- attach white with a sl st in the same sl st on round 29 that closed the back of the slipper, ch 3, sk a st,( (hdc in next st, ch 1, sk a st, )continue around join with a sl st to ch 2 of beginning ch 3
Round 31- ch 2, ( LHDC in skipped st on previous rnd, hdc in next st) around, fasten off white.
To sew up the back of the slipper, turn slipper back inside out and sl st the back shut
