Doug was a boy from a small town called Brooksville.  Doug lived with his mom and step-father, Suzi and Jeff respectively.  He was a recent graduate, aching to go off to a trade school in the nearby city of Tampa.  All of his preparations were set and now all that was left was to get the student loans co-signed by his parents.  After a recent trip from the International Academy of Art and Technology, he and Jeff had brought back with them the papers that needed to be signed, so that Jeff could convince his wife to sign them.  He had explained that he was excited about the loan because it would set Doug up with an excellent credit, having paid off a large loan right out of school.  He had also, for years before, said that instead of helping Doug pay for a car, he would co-sign the loan to buy the car, that way Doug could have good credit to start off with.  Now, that dream was finally being realized, just with a college loan, instead of a car.
Now, two days later, on a Saturday morning, Jeff had set Doug down in the kitchen to talk with him about the loan and what was going to happen.  After a bit of misdirection and beating around the bush Jeff finally broke the news that he would not be co-signing the loan for school.  He said that he was only doing the best for Doug, because giving him a huge debt right out of high school was a horrible graduation present, and that this way, Doug could work for a while, and then be able to pay off college instead of having this huge debt.  It was all for the better.  But not in Dougs eyes.  His entire world had just been destroyed by the Death Star, and no he was drifting through space, with out a purpose or direction.  He was shattered.  After a few more minutes of talking Doug left the kitchen and went to his room at the other end of the house.  He broke down and cried.  Then he grabbed hold of anything in his mind that he could and brought himself back to reality.
