NightForge Map Maker

NightForge Map Maker is a free, Java-based tool for creating battle maps for roleplaying games (RPG's) such as Dungeons & Dragons and others, especially in their play-by-Post (PbP) forms. Given a map design, it will compile the data into an HTML format for viewing on a web browser.

Getting the Map Maker

The first step is to get hold of the Map Maker. This can be downloaded here (Version 1.1). Extract the file. The folder consists of 2 parts:

• input.txt: This file is an empty template for creating maps. More on this in the Tutorial section.
• Map Maker v1.1.jar: This is the main program which is run to compile input files to HTML maps.

Map Maker requires a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) to run. If the program does not work, try downloading the latest one here.
