Ah yes, my log cabin. It turned out to be such a lengthy projectI hardly know where to begin. Hmm, how

about at the begining? The above pictures appear to be from pretty near the begining. The picture on the

left is of my cousins Liz and Jackie.(Cousin Craig's cousins!) The one on the right is Liz and her boy Jake.

The ugly dude in both pictures is me.

Here's a couple of pictures that appear to be taken three or four months later than the last two.

Progress on this project was very slow. I started building this cabin in January of "98". It's

December of "01" now and I'm still not completely finished with it.

Two more pictures for you. The walls are completed and I've got the ridge beam up. Setting that

thirty foot long ridge beam atop those two twenty foot tall vertical logs was the only time

during the construction of this cabin that I feared for my life. My buddy John Burris was helping

me that day. After we got that ridge beam set up there I remember John saying "this was a three

man job. One man on each twenty foot ladder and a third man on the ground ready to drive us

to the hospital when we fall".

Here are a couple of interesting pictures. On the left you can see the very beginning of what will

be the loft. Can you see that horizontal log that goes across about eight feet above the floor

joists? That log will be the edge of the loft floor. You'll better be able to understand what I mean

when you see some more recent pictures.

Here are some shots of the south end.

and a shot of the gable dormer up in the loft. Cool, huh?

cabin4a.jpg (112102 bytes)

Here's my little boy, Jody, sitting on the front porch. (he's hunting for deer)

cabin10.jpg (37167 bytes)    cabin12.jpg (37626 bytes)

The picture on the left is from in the loft looking down into the main room. The one on

the right is looking up into the peak of the roof.

A couple more interior shots. The loft on the left. The bedroom beneath the loft on the right.

View of my beloved cabin from the north.

cabin23.jpg (38529 bytes)

another from the east.

cabin24.jpg (38442 bytes)  cabin25.jpg (38122 bytes)

On the left is a view looking out the front door. You can see the north end of Poe lake. The

other picture is looking out the front door from inside. (as you may have noticed, in most

of these pictures I don't have all of the chinking done on some of the outside walls) It's done

now though.

floor.jpg (37868 bytes) stovetable.jpg (38607 bytes)

I took these two pictures so you can see the flooring in the living room / dining room / kitchen. (all

the same room) The flooring is tongue and groove 1"X 4". I layed it on the diagonal because I

thought it would look better. I ran out of flooring before I got completely done as you can see on

the left hand picture.

I did manage to get a little help putting that flooring down. Strange little fella', that one was. He only wanted paid

in orange sodas and" fruit rollups".
