Things to Make
Listed below are things that one can make. Some of the items are edible, and some are not
edible. I will add to the list as the year progresses. I am always looking

Finger Paint
1/4 cup liquid starch
1 tablespoon powdered tempera paint
Mix
together the tempera paint and the liquid starch. |

Kool-AidŽ Play Dough
1
cup flour
1 cup water
1/4 cup salt
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 tablespoons cream of tartar
1 package unsweetened Kool-Aid
Mix flour, salt, cream of tartar and
Kool-AidŽ in a medium pot. Add water and oil. Stir over medium heat
3 to 5 minutes. When mixture forms a ball in pot, remove. Knead
until smooth. Store in a
plastic container. |

Play Dough
1 cup flour
1 cup water
1/2 cup salt
1 teaspoon vegetable oil
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
Food coloring
Mix
the dry ingredients. Add the remaining ingredients and stir. Cook the
mixture for three minutes. Make sure you stir frequently. After three
minutes, put the dough on some wax paper and knead it until it becomes
soft and smooth. Store in an airtight container. |

Edible Peanut
Butter Play Dough
3 1/2 cup honey
4 cups powdered milk
4 cups powdered sugar
3 1/2 cup peanut butter
Mix the ingredients.
Let the children shape the dough. |

Sidewalk Chalk
3 tablespoons water
1/3 cup Plaster of Paris
1 tablespoon powdered tempera paint
toilet paper tubes (sealed at one end with duct tape)
Mix the plaster of Paris, tempera
paint, and water. Pour the mixture into the toilet paper tubes. Let
the chalk dry for approximately thirty minutes. Remove
the toilet paper tubes and let the mixture completely dry.
You can create sidewalk chalk in
various shapes by using different plastic molds. |

Stickers
4 tablespoons hot water
2 tablespoons flavored gelatin
Mix together the gelatin
and the water. Stir until the gelatin dissolves. Brush the mixture
on the back of a small picture or drawing. You can also use pictures
from magazines.
Let the sticker dry (approximately 35 minutes). When you are ready
to use your sticker, just lick and stick! |
