100th Day Song

(tune:  "I've Been Working on the Railroad")

We've been working in our classroom for 100 days.

We've been working in our classroom for 100 days, hooray!

Rising early in the morning
Bring our books and pencils too.
Every day we come to (school name)
Every day we come to (school name)
We learn something new!

Today is the 100th Day of School!
(Tune: "The Ants Go Marching One by One"

We've all been counting one by one.
Hoorah! Hoorah!
We've all been counting one by one.
Hoorah! Hoorah!
We've all been counting one by one
And now 100 days are done.
Hooray! Today's the 100th day of school!

Activities

Snack Ideas

Let the children put 10 of 10 different food items in a zip loc bag to make a "100" snack. Use marshmallows, M&M's, nuts, raisins, crackers, popcorn, different kinds of cereal, and other small food items to make the "100" snack.

On the 100th day of school, let each child use food to make the number 100. Give each child a pretzel stick and a food item that has a circular shape.

Ask each child to bring a collection of 100 things.

Give the children a crown and have them glue 100 items on it.

Do a 100 piece puzzle.

Give each child a 100 day badge to wear. Really Good Stuff sells lots of items for a 100th day celebration.

Build something with 100 pieces of Legos.

Have the children form the number 100 with their bodies and then take a picture.

Let the children create something with 100 toothpicks and 100 marshmallows. Take pictures of the creations and put the pictures into a book.

Language Arts

The Wolf's Chicken's Stew

Brainstorm with the children some other items the wolf could take to the chickens. Have them write and illustrate. Put all creations in a class book.

Journal Ideas

Have the children write and illustrate the following sentence starters. You can combine all pages into a "100" book.

I wish I had 100...
I wouldn't want 100...
I can eat 100...
I could never eat 100...

If I had 100 dollars...

Give each child a fake 100 dollar bill that has been glued to a piece of paper. Have them write and illustrate what they would buy if they had $100.

Have the children draw a picture of how they think they will look when they are 100 years old. Have them write about their picture.

Make a group chart of  100 words that your class can read. Another option is to have each child write down 100 words that he/she can read.

Math

Estimation Jars

Have several jars with different items inside (cotton balls, pennies, pieces of candy, etc.  Ask the children to guess which has exactly 100 in it.

1:1 Hershey Kisses Hunt

Use the sticky dots to put a number from 1-100 on the bottom of 100 Hershey Kisses. Hide them around the room. The children will find a Hershey Kiss and match the number on the bottom of the Hershey Kiss to the number on the 100s chart. After finding Hershey Kiss and matching the number to the 100s chart, each child places his/her Hershey Kiss on the matching number.

Have the children look in a catalog. They will cut out pictures of what they would buy if they had $100.

Let the children create something with 100 pattern blocks. Take pictures of the creations and put the pictures into a book.
