at balnuaran of clava near inverness a tall stone circle surrounds two burial cairns and a ring cairn that date between 2000 bc and 1700 bc in the square kilometre around this monument are at least 6 other similar sites with many more scattered around the moray firth
reserch seems to suggest these circles are set up for some astrological events
