Sam and Zoe at 14 Months
(continued)
attempts to catch them which leads to more laughter. Sam and Zoe like playing with the blocks. They love it when Mitch stacks the block to form a tower for them to knock over. Mitch pretends to be mad after they knock them over and raises his hand and says "Ayyy!" as in "don't do that!" Sam now raises both hands triumphantly after knocking down the blocks and says "Ayyy!" as in "Score!" Sam and Zoe also laugh when they do things they know they're not supposed to do, like entering a room that's typically closed off to them. They'll look up at us with a knowing glance that an opportunity exists, and then mischievously pursue it.

Sam and Zoe are also very ticklish and love to be tickled, particularly around the back of the neck, stomach, and chest. They love to be thrown up and down and tossed onto the bed or couch. They love playing on the couch or climbing up to the bed on the guest bedroom platform. They love when Mitch runs around holding them at chest level or on top of his shoulders. They love racing into an open room and closing the door on us. They love opening and closing the safety gates. They love pressing their face against the glass panes of the outside doors while banging on a higher glass pane. They love when you dance with them or move their arms and legs to the beat. They love animals, particularly dogs, cats, and ducks. They get all excited whenever they see or hear a dog. Imitating a dog's "woofs" will always get a rise from them. Sam and Zoe also love their babysitter Telva. When guests come over that they know (like Rena), Zoe gets very smiley and greets them with a hug and likes to sit on their lap. Sam is more blas. He usually smiles and likes to be noticed but basically continues whatever he was doing.

The only game Sam and Zoe didn't like is when Mitch (twice) came into the room wearing a wig. Sam was terrified, and crawled away faster than ever. Zoe became equally frightened and joined Sam's crying. It took several minutes for them to get over the experience even after Mitch took the wig off.

Mitch peeks into Sam and Zoe's room most nights before going to sleep to marvel at their being. Mitch and Jodi end each day saying "what good babies" to each other.
