If I Can Go

by Bunny-chan

“Koenma-sama!!” A grown Koenma jumped as Botan charged into his office. “George-san said you didn’t sleep last night!” Koenma blinked and turned back to his papers. “I’m fine, Botan-chan.” Botan stood in front of him and slammed her palm on his current document.

He looked at her wearily. Her face softened. “Please, Koenma-sama. You need a vacation.” Koenma put his stamp down. “I know Botan-chan.” He sighed. “But how am I supposed to get away from all this?!” He waved his hand at the piles of papers around him.

[Koenma]

If I can chose a place to go it has be far away
From here we could crossover like no thing
Somewhere outside the palace where tomorrow’s like today
And I'm out in a space where nobody else can stay

And, if I can go, with you

Then I'll go get the answer right now if that's cool
Have you ever been close to feeling like leaving the rest too
A feeling like leaving with somebody who
Can hold you the right way while watching the night fade
And make you feel like you’re right back in the ninth grade
When you know what she likes and what she might say
And you try to be calm and answer in nice ways

And, if I can go, with you

Way out of the way no papers for a change
No work and no rat race, and you’re just a phone call away
So all I’ve got to say is

“I have an idea!” Botan smiled and grabbed the surprised Rei Kai princes’ hand as she ran out the door.

[both]
If I can go, don’t say ‘no’, I'll pack my things, soon as you say
’Baby vamos’, we'll fly away, like there is no, no tomorrow
If can go, you in tow, we’ll tell our friends, nothing at all
I'll get my things, soon as you say, ‘baby vamos’, we'll fly away

George knocked gingerly on the door of Koenma’s office, hoping he wouldn’t get yelled at for telling Botan about Koenma’s sleeping. But Koenma didn’t answer. “Koenma-sama…?” George quietly entered the room and tiptoed towards Koenma’s chair. “Sir, are you OK? I don’t hear your stamping…” He peered around the chair’s back.

 Koenma wasn’t there!

George began flipping through papers, looking in drawers, and tipping over chairs. “Koenma-sama? Koenma-samaaa..? Helloooo?!” He finally stopped when he saw a remote on the desk with a note saying ‘click me’.

When George pushed the button, Botan and Koenma appeared on the large screen in front of Koenma’s desk.

“Hi there!” Botan waved cheerily with an arm around Koenma’s neck.

Koenma smirked. “Botan-chan and I are going on vacation. We should be back pretty soon.”

They both gave a peace sign. “Bye!”

George stared at the screen expectantly. There was no other message. No ‘Just joking!’ no instructions, no information on where they were going. No nothing.

George ran out of the office at top speed. “Ayame! Call everyone together!! Koenma-sama and Botan-chan are gone!!”

[ Botan]

And, if I can go, with you

Oh boy we’re about to make a lot of people annoyed
And boy, you better know I know how to lose the boys
And I’ve been around since the toddler-days, boy

And, if I can flow, with you

Hugging Puu after the day’s done I go with you
I send George and three other oni to go get you
Because your name holds weights, that’s the whole issue
The higher up’s can cry, just go get tissues
But Koenma-sama asked ‘Can I go with you?’

Them I'm taking a trip too with no new souls
Because we’ll be in peace only me no meetings
Dancing to our own beat that's the plan we'll see
Two stops, one in Tokyo one in Sand Beach

And, I'll think I'll go, with you

And maybe we’ll be back in a week

back to you

Botan and Koenma looked around the corner before running down the hall. “I swear I’ll strangle that oni when I see him.” Koenma cursed, as they had to look around another corner. “That’s not important now.” Botan whispered, a determined look on her face. “We ARE going to leave rather they like it or not…!” Koenma grabbed her hand. “It’s OK, Botan-chan. Thank you, but if my father hears about this…” He left the warning in the air. Botan smiled cheerily at him. “So? We can deal with that later! Come on!” She pulled him with her as they broke into another run.

If I can go, don’t say ‘no’, I'll pack my things, soon as you say

“Any luck yet?” Ayame asked running up to George. George shook his head sadly. “No. Higurashi-san saw them, but they ran away when they saw her and she lost them.” Ayame nodded and waved at George as she ran the way he had come from. “Good luck, George-san!!” George sighed and headed the opposite way.

[Koenma]
We can fly away, no one has to know
Will you take me with you, cause if I can go…

[Botan]
As soon as you say the word, we'll be on our way
To a foreign place; you need to tell me

Koenma glanced out of the window of the room he and Botan had hid in. “I think they’re gone again…” He sighed in exasperation as he looked at Botan. “Is this all really worth-“ Botan put her hand up. “Shush..!” She hissed as another searcher walked by. When the person was gone Botan looked at Koenma. “Yes! It is! Besides, if we go back now, we’ll still get in trouble, and we wouldn’t even had gotten a break!” Koenma looked surprised. “Botan-chan…!” She winked. “Come on! Before they come back!” They sneaked out of the room and down the hallway. She turned to him. “Keep going. I’m going to grab something, OK?” Koenma tried to stop her. “But they could catch one of us!” She waved her finger. “It’s important, OK?” She pushed him forward a bit, than turned around and ran. “I’ll meet you outside!” She chimed as she ran.

Koenma stared after Botan. “Thank you.” He whispered. As he headed into the next hall, he saw George and Ayame running toward him. “Koenma-sama!!” They called, only two meters away. “Oh, no!” Koenma ran the other way.

[Koenma]

Whoa, uh, so now that we’ve got a plan are you coming? We could take a week
The only question now is open public or to be discreet?

[Botan]
Take a seat, know why? In front because I want to see
And seeing as I know how fly the clouds and I can speak

[Koenma/Botan]
And, since we’re about to go, in a few-

[Botan]
Go ahead!

[Koenma]
Oh, I just wanted to tell you thank you
This week off I'm grateful what were you trying to say Bo-

[Botan]

Nothing! Just grab my oar off the table and some yen too

[Koenma]
Ok, that little place is a great move
And there aren’t any problems, unless the water doesn’t stay blue

[Botan]
And the shop's there?

[Koenma]
If they don't have them, they don't make them

[Botan]

True!

Botan stepped tentatively over the sleeping oni. “I wonder why HE gets a break...” She thought aloud.

Finally, Botan made it to her room she picked up the camera she had come for. “Yes! Now we’ll have some mementos!!” But as she headed for the door, she heard somebody walk by. They were panting, obviously from running a lot. Another person suddenly ran up behind them. “Hey! Come on! George-san and Ayame-san have found Koenma-sama!! They’re following him through the courtyard now!!” The two ran off as Botan gasped.

“Koenma-sama…! Oh, I have to find him…” She smacked her fist to her palm as she spotted her window. “Of course!!”

Botan opened her window with some effort and jumped. As she fell, she summoned her oar to her.

[Koenma]
No marble just sand, throw away your shoes
Now, that we are on, our way
And our bags are packed and there’s no new mission today
Everything's ok, so you sit in front, I’ll get on the back
Now I don't need to ask

Koenma ran toward the gates of the palace. Behind him was practically everyone he had ever gave an order to, George and Ayame in the lead.

“Why me?” Koenma cursed as he heard shouts behind him of ‘Hurry! We’re gaining on him!!’ and ‘We can’t let him get to the forest!’

Koenma was about to turn around and give up, when a certain blue haired girl came flying down from behind him. “Koenma-sama! Grab my hand!” Koenma eagerly took her hand and felt his feet lifting off the ground.

He settled behind Botan on the oar, holding her waist with one hand for support. They turned back to the people and creatures behind them. “Bye-bye!!” Botan smiled and waved as Koenma gave another peace sign. “Don’t you dare come looking for us!!” He added angrily.

As they flew to the Ningen Kai, Koenma leaned forward slightly. “Botan-chan… Uh…” Botan frowned at him. “I swear, Koenma-sama. If you ask if we should be doing this one more time, I’ll drop you here!!” Koenma blinked, startled. “N-no, Botan-chan. I just…” He looked down uneasily. “Wanted to say Thank you… for everything” Botan smiled. “Anytime.”

She laughed suddenly. “What?” Koenma tried to look at her again. “It’s just so funny that you’re so uptight about your image and authority; and you were just chased out of your palace by all of your employees!” Koenma punched her in the head. “Hey! I can knock you off this thing too, you know!” He growled. Botan smiled sweetly back at him. “But you have to admit,” she chirped. “It WAS funny.” Koenma blushed lightly at her smile. “Well… maybe…” Botan looked forward again laughing and leaned back. Koenma put his other arm on her waist as they flew over Tokyo.

“Yusuke! What are you doing?” Keiko walked angrily up behind Yusuke. “Why didn’t you say anything before running out of the restaurant? You totally embarrassed me!” Yusuke looked at Keiko out of the corner of his eye. “Look, there.” He pointed up at the night sky, where one could barely see a well-known Ferry Girl, and the Rei Kai Prince. “Maybe we should try to find them?” He asked as they went down near the coast. Keiko grabbed his arm. “Maybe later.” She smiled and led him back to their date. “You owe me dinner still.”
